How long do you plan on keeping your 991?

soon as i can afford a 991 GT3 Touring. That I will keep forever.

Unless some unforeseen long-term quality issues arise, I will probably keep my '13 991 for another 10 years. This is my 5th 911 - I just don't feel the need to upgrade anymore. The 991 is all I need for fun backroad driving, and it makes a good city driver as well.

Drifting
Every time I buy a Porsche I think I will end up keeping it 10 years. But then the new one comes out and I end up waiting a few model years and I start seeing them on the road and I buy one. I hope I don’t get the urge again for at least 4 more years.

A friend of mine has a Ferrari 458 Speciale. He drives an M3 Competition as a daily driver. But every day he can't stop talking about getting a Porsche 991TTS for his next car.
He loves the 458 but it's impractical. The M3 is fast but it's not as sexy. A couple of his neighbors have 991s and he literally drools at them every morning when they pull out of their garages

Race Car
I bought my car with a plan to get in to a 992 as soon as I could get a C2S allocation, however the 991.2 has surprised me by how much I like it. At this point it's going to come down to what I think of the 992. It's going to have to offer something pretty special to make me jump up right away. Probably happens but not the guarantee I thought it was six months ago.

My 2018 991.2 has 3800km on it and is under CPO warranty til late in 2023. Plan to keep it until then and may decide to extend the CPO by 2 years. Really enjoying this car.

The diminished value fun will start Monday. I chose not to get in a battle over that until the repairs were complete. Didn't want to poison the well, so to speak.

I always 'plan' on keeping cars forever when I 'buy' (as opposed to 'lease'), however it's not what happens in reality. Things come up and I end up moving to another car. The primary reason has been 'stacking' things going wrong with the car...the attachment gets damaged and turns into frustration after a while. I don't mind wear and tare...not expecting it be a new shiny car forever, but if there are serious problems like PDK showing signs of failure and warranty nearly expired...well the car isn't sticking around.
If this car stays reliable and has no (serious) quirks, I have no plans to sell. 4.5 year unlimited mile warranty on this one, so that will be the minimum...things that go wrong will have to be fixed. The handling and overall performance of a loaded 991.2 C4S is incredible and other cars feel so sloppy after driving it. Sounds great too (of course NA crowd going to hate).
I think many people buy these cars with intent to keep for a while, but stuff happens and they don't.

I made it 5 years in my 991.1 4S and finally ordered a 991.2 a couple months ago. Longest I've ever had a car. Got tired of taking it in to address annoying but minor issues (like the brakes squeaking when I wasn't braking). It's been a great car but am looking forward to a new one.

I expect that I will have my 991 (2013 Cab S) until I can no longer get it and out of it -- it pretty much has what I would like on a 911 and the delta for the new ones is just a bit too much for the value add that I perceive. Now the (2017) Cayenne S will probably get traded in after 3 - 4 years -- I like it but will probably get itch for the improved technology in the new Cayennes.
