The "~!@#$ Previous Owner (PO)" thread is long on the 928 forum. I figured to start the tradition for 991s.
As time goes by more and more participants on this sub-forum will not be the first owners of their 991s. As a result, we'll have the opportunity to 'discover' things done to our 991s by the Previous Owner.
In my case, it seems that the PO of my wife's '16 991S MT dumped a cup of sugared coffee (or something similar) into the HVAC controller. Most of the right-side buttons couldn't be pressed-in, or when they could, wouldn't release thereby causing HVAC havoc.
Of course, I didn't discover this during my PPI (left side was fine) and Porsche won't warranty the repair "because: coffee." Instead the Dealer would like ~$1100 to replace the controller. !@#$ that.
It's like the Lego Set From Hell. For example, the buttons that have the single light in them? There are 8 of them but there are 5 unique clear plastic parts.
It took me 4.79 hours start to finish including clean-up and cleaning under the controller and the bottom of the PCM. I could probably cut an hour out the next time - better not be a next time - I have to do this. Still, that works out to a $460/hr before tax labor rate as compared to paying the dealer with after-tax money
You are, of course, free to order the wrong controller from ebay. You might also consider the Socratic Method before assuming that I’m an idiot. You might learn something (perhaps even somethings) I know that you don’t.

You are free not to do any DIY work to your 991. This is why dealer service departments exist.

OP: While I do DIY my 993, I must admit that the 14 filters required when I change the oil is very confusing. I usually have 1-2 filters left over for some reason.
Thankfully the PO of my car left it in absolutely pristine condition, and was meticulously maintained. 20k miles on the clock when I bought it, and not even so much as one single rock chip on the front bumper.
The PO of my car had one of the worst bumper resprays. The color match is great, but they did not paint the bumper off the car and the masking was horrible. Overspray on so many things and the driver side is pretty dry.
2 of the wheels were also “repaired,” but the repair job probably looks worse than the wheels did curbed.
At some point I’ll have these properly corrected, but right now, I’m just enjoying having the car.
I was thrilled to find two cigarette burns on one of my rear floor mats in my "pristine, always garaged, non-smoker" owned car. The car has never smelled like smoke, so the PO must have only smoked with the top down. That would explain how the hot ashes blew onto the floor in the back. I've replaced the mats, so the burn marks are gone.
