Default HOLY COW My Michelin Super Sports Are Noisy!!!!

Can you hear me now????

No surprise. The tires have over 18,000 miles. Still good very tread....over 4/32 and 5/32s on the rear. I want to push these just past 22,000 miles, since I got 22,000 miles out of the prior set of rear PZeros. My goal is at least 23,000 miles. I already have a rear replacement set of MPSS sitting in my basement from Damon (Tire Rack). So, I'm ready for the replacement come July/August, after Porsche Parade in the Ozarks (Missouri). Just waiting to hit the wear bars of do a little cording on the inner tread. I would have considered the new PS4S, but I don't want to change the fronts yet. They'll go close to 40K like before.

I don't drive often with the cabriolet closed, but there's been some rain recently and very hot weather (+95) so, I've driven a fair amount of recent miles with the AC on and the roof closed. Holy cow, do these tires howl & roar. Not a surprise and not any different than the prior worn-out PZeros. With the top open, I can't hear the tires.: And the MusiCar Tweeters also help.

I just did this Lex....My Super Sports were at 20K miles on the rear and yes, noisy and they had lost some cornering grip. Right on the wear bars on my cab as well. Fronts good so I got two rears out of Tire Rack and put them on last week. Considerably quieter and my 'go-round-the-corner-grip is back. Good luck getting to 23K miles!

Next set will be PS4S all-around.

No feathers. Just a little tar.

My factory PZeros were excellent. I put 15,000 miles on the first set (rears only.......replaced too soon, my bad) and 22,000 miles on the second set. I don't find the current MPSS any better. They are very good.

Here is a doozy of a story about these Michelin tires. So, about 2 weeks ago I had a coupon to go to Exotic Racing in Fontana, CA and I picked the most obvious vehicle, the GT3, and to my surprise, it was a 991.2 version, 11/17 build date. Anyway, I drove 13 laps (1.2M long) and I pushed the car from my first time at 1.09, down to 1.02, so ya, it was insanely awesome, super quick and I was pushing the tires in the corners, really felt amazingly strong and sticky. After we finished up and drove the car back to the pits, I wanted to see if they had the sportcup 2’s or the Dunlop sportmax race and guess what, it was the Michellin PS4S tires. I was like “wtf”, I couldn’t believe. I installed them on my 2015 MT 991 GTS and wow, these tires are damn amazing, so much quieter vs the P0’s, handling was amazing, softer ride and ya, sticky. This tire is well beyond what I thought

Great story. I'm counting down the months before I make the PZERO to PS4S swap. Costco is finally stocking them also :-)

My OEM Pirellis are almost done too. New Michelin S4s for me in a couple of weeks . MPSS on SQ5 are awesome and wearing really well.

No concerns replacing run flat Pirelli Pilot with non-run flat Michelin PS4S?

What car? Porsche doesn't use run-flats.

PS4S are not run flats. They should be fine. Buy a quality tire plug kit and know how to use your built-in air compressor.

My mistake. I thought the Pirellis were run flats.

I just don't get how you get that many miles out of your rears. I got 6k miles on my first set of Pzero's. Car is never tracked.

Easy. I'm on a trip now. I'll be doing over 800 highway miles to carve up 400 miles of back country roads in and around Missouri wine country. Will do a similar thing in 3 weeks to attend Porsche Parade in the Missouri Ozarks.

I had an oil change on the 7th. Two weeks ago. I already have +1,800 on the fresh Mobil.
