Default Help - Immobilizer problems?

2014 Carrera S, I'm the original owner, ordered new and got it in November 2013. I've been using the same key since.Used the car last night and didn't have any issues, no battery low lights. left the car unlocked inside my garage as I always do. Tonight was going out for diner and when I turned the ignition heard only a click and the car wouldn't crank, can't even remove the key from the car and the only light that is on (permanently) is the hazards light next to the gear shift lever. Tried locking and unlocking with the little emergency key but nothing happened. Tried to lock and unlock with the second key that I never use, tried to connect a battery charger to the red terminal on the fuse block and nada.... any ideas?

Cheers,
David

Thanks Lex, you are right. was able to open the frunk with a second battery last night and confirmed the battery is dead. That was my initial thought but the fact that I can't remove the key from the ignition was misleading.

Davito, here is the best Battery DYI on Rennlist. Read before your replacement project:

Dropping in here -- I have a '2012.5 991.1S -- car started fine one day wouldn't turn over he next. Battery level was showing 12v in cluster. Charged battery overnight - No Start. Jumped battery showing 13+Volts in cluster - No Start. Removed and checked battery at AutoZone - low ...840CC amps, but not gone - Bought new battery anyway. Replaced battery successfully - STILL NO START. Checked fuel pump relay and some other fuses I thought might be in play - they were all good. Trickle charged new batter overnight - fully charged - No Start. -- Cycled Alarm too.

-- Does this sound like the immobilizer gremlin at work or are there other things I can check before giving up and having it towed?

Dealership is 100 miles away.
