Default 991.1 Seat Squeak

I have a 2015 991.1 C2S that has an annoying squeak coming from the drivers seat. It may actually be 2 different squeaks. One seems to be from the seat latch. I'm hesitant to spray wd-40 in there, is there something else I could try is wd40 the best option? The other one may be from the side airbag plastic rubbing on the leather? Anyone had either of these and fixed them? Any recommendations?

I had the same issue with the housing around the seat latch. I just sprayed a little WD40 in there very gently with the little straw dispenser. It fixed the squeak. I know there are other lubricants that are probably better than WD40 but that is what I had and it worked. Just keep a towel in the other hand to wipe up any that drips.

WD 40 is not really a lubricant. WD =water displacement. It might stop the squeak for a while but it will come back. Better to use a Silicone spray or grease.

Is there a silicone spray you recommend?

If you have a good bike lubricant those work great, either mineral oil based or ceramic. Finish line or pro link. I put these on everything.... everything. Squeaks can go away for years.

Just stop by Lowe’s or Home Depot for silicone spray/lubricant. It won’t harm leather. Just wipe off over spray. I put some on my finger and apply to prevent seals from drying up on things like sunroof seal , the visor seals on my helmets and lots of other car, motorcycle and household stuff.

The common seat squeak (since you say it might be more than one) is the left thig bolster on the seat controls... You can stuff foam there...
Also I've found out my seat squeaks more if all the way down (the way I like it). I raise it 1/4" and it's much quieter... YMMV...

Just get a can of the silicone spray they use for garage doors (that's how it's usually marketed).

Wish I had seen this sooner - raising the seat up slightly did the trick for me, thanks!

I know this post is old but I’d like to add my 2017 c4s latch on drivers seat (passengers side) squeaked and fix was warranty to replace it and add lub under. It snaps into place tightly so you can’t get lub under without replacing. There is TSB on it.

What is the TSB number?

for me i noticed the major cause of squeaks was the seat belt holder squeaking on the seat bottom. Thinking about putting some cloth around it.
