What I would like for my base Carrera is a source for the GTS, or even S turbos, and a tune that simply achieves GTS levels of power and torque. Since the mechanical bits of the engine are common in all of the Carreras, that would be the safest possible way to achieve useful enhanced power that would even survive a track day.
Last year when Suncoast had a sale on the X51 kit I asked them how much for just the GTS turbos without the Tune. Suncoast sold me just the pair of GTS turbos for just under 5K. The list price for each GTS turbo is around $4500 to $4700 each. Call Suncoast and ask them if they will sell just the GTS turbos.

Not too surprising, when the X51 PowerKit that includes two GTS turbos was offered as low as $5070 last year.
I think the previous price was 5,700. Not sure why they raise it to $6,395.
Previously I mentioned my speculation that Porsche put them out to dealers at a discount last year to move inventory. They had pushed 2H18 GTS production into 2019 to make as many GT3 cars as possible in 2H18 before the Jan 1 2019 EU emissions change. The 4.0 GT3 engine needed tweaking and there was no production of it for a while this year. So the incoming glut of PowerKit parts needed to be sold. Sunset Porsche had the kit as low as $5070 last Summer, and my dealer matched that price.
Very nice!
I was not aware the Turbo brakes are a bolt-on option for a 991.2 Carreras Please tell us more about that...
Actually it was a quite simple bolt-on upgrade. You’ll need following parts from Turbo:
- brake dust shields
- brake rotors
- brake calipers
- brake pads
- caliper bolts
- brake lines (Carrera ones were too short)
I’ve bought mine used for only $1.5k from my2017 turbo. Calipers had some minor scratches so got them powder coated before installation. This gave me also opportunity to change color for a bit brighter red. The current rotors are also a bit worn so ordered new ones from PFC and waiting them to be installed at next week in my local shop.

I’ve bought a pair of new GTS turbos for $4.5k so this seems to be a really good price for X51 kit. And considering the fact that you will need to have ecu reprogrammed with bigger turbos in any case. In my case with base Carrera this was totally $2.5k with a Cobb Protune.
