Dear All,
I used this thread as a base to try and answer this question and never really got to a point where I was comfortable to 'pull the trigger'. I spoke to specialist independents who were, at best, non committal. In the end I just looked at the numbers available and used 'willtheyfit' to try and confirm.
In the end, the following are the options;
1) If you want GT3 wheels front and back then;
- The rears are a straight bolt on. They have 1mm less offset. This will result in a width increase of 7mm. The wheels are 0.5" wider but the same tyre is used. Weight is 12.2kg vs 12.6kg for the standard GTS Centrelocks.
- The fronts are a problem. They have a very different offset. This puts them further in the wheel arch. You can use them but the general consensus is to use GT3 Lower control arms with a 10mm spacer. An expensive option and not ideal if you want to keep the original wheels as a winter set.
2) The route I took after research.
- GT3 wheels on the back. No brainer. They use the same tyres and fill out the arch nicely with a tiny bit of extra camber and track.
- On the front I used GT3 RS wheels. These happen to also have 1mm less offset. They are also 0.5" wider. On the GT3 RS they take a 265 tyre but the GTS 245 is actually the minimum size for the wheel. Therefore you can fit this with no change in size so ride height is the same. These wheels also sit 7mm further out and have a tiny bit of extra camber. Oddly they weigh 10.8kg vs 10.4kg for the standard wheels.
Overall the GT3 / GT3 RS combo is the same overall weight, gives you 14mm more track front and back, a positive tweak to camber, allows the same tyres and fills out the wheel arches nicely. They just look and work loads better.

Ooh, now THAT's an interesting idea... [immediately starts scanning ebay listings...]
I think this can be done by adding Elephant Racing eccentric bushings to widen front track and accommodate for the 4mm offset difference on GT3 wheels.
Be careful, rear wheel widths and offsets are different between 991.1 and 991.2 GTSs. Rear hubs are further out in the 991.2.
Yes, this is important. If the car is a .2 then the wheels are very different.
Standard on 991.1 GTS are
20x11.5J ET48 Rear
20x9J ET51 Front
Standard on 991.2 GTS are
20x12J ET63 Rear Wheels
20x9J ET51 Front Wheels
Less offset will mean the wheels move outwards. So if you put the GT3 wheels on the back of a 991.2 GTS they will stick out a lot. Probably hit the arch and look bad.
I am guessing but I assume the change was needed at the back to accomodate the changes caused by the Turbo engine.
I love the look of GT3 wheels but for the money (and as proven by @595triple ) I would rather drop some unsprung weight via set of Forged wheels that are lights than GT3 wheels (even Apex Forged wheels drop 2-3 pounds per corner Vs GT3 CLs)
Great thread, I got to see a pic of Agate Grey GTS with gold wheels, which is a route I have contemplated in the past

My FI-R's in the fronts could use a little widening as they don't fill the arches as the 12" rears. the other option was RS 9.5 but I was too afraid that they would stick out too much.
Could these bushings be used as axle spacers for the front and are there any downsides ? Harder, stiffer ride etc. ?
OP did you ever get the answer to your question? I’m kind of in the same situation. I have my .2 gts lowered and trying to go for 19”.
I tried 19" O.Z. on my 2017 Carrera GTS. The rear wheels rubbed at the bottom of the wheel carriers, enough so to make a grinding noise that was intolerable. It may have been that the O.Z. wheels were too thick. I have pics...just need to find them.

That’s what I heard as well, hubs moved out to accommodate the turbos. Here’s what rear GT3 offsets look like on the 991.2:
"I just ordered custom wheels for my 991.2 GTS." What did you order?
"Poke"? Is that a term to mean stick out? Pardon my ignorance.
How did you get the "massive amount of neg camber"? Tell us more....
20 x 12 E-Motion Front E-Motion rear
Tractive camber tops
A picture says a thousand words.
Yes, poke is sticking out more like you have spacers on. But you can’t run spacers with centre locks. So I had wheels made with custom ET.
