Default Rear badge lettering

I've just joined, having bought a year old 991.2 Cab2S. Thrilled to bits but lost a ton of money on my 718S Boxster, which after a 981 and previous 987 I just couldn't get on with - sound but mainly vibration. I stupidly had the 911 Carrera S badging removed but in bright sunlight you can still see the imprint. So, I'm considering buying anew the badging and sticking it on myself. Can anyone tell me. Presumably, they're self adhesive but are they easy enough to fit/stick on myself? And do I have to prepare the surface. I had the car GTECH ceramic or whatever protective coated.

Did you remove it after you had the coating put on or before. If before the should have done a full detail and paint correction and you should not see the imprint. If after it’s obvious why you are seeing the outline.

Good point. Don't know. Dealer did it. Will check because if they put coating on first, then they can remedy situation.

Go seek out a quality professional detailer. Don't have the dealership do anything more. The rear engine lid needs a good paint correction and then the re-application of a sealant.

I took mine off with low heat on a heat gun, isopropyl alcohol and goo gone. No imprints. Have your detailed refinish the back end again and reapply the coating so that you can put the lettering.

What they all said above. If it was taken off and corrected properly then ceramic coated you should not see anything. Yeah it would be nice to hold the dealer accountable but if they messed it up once imagine what they'll do the second time. Take it to someone that knows proper paint correction, it isn't rocket science.

Thanks all. The dealer is over 200 miles away, over 4 hours in UK. I was really just thinking of buying the lettering on line and sticking it over the imprint. I might just leave it. You have to struggle to see it and then only from certain angles and in bright sunlight, which we don't get much of. In fact, although I said looks naff, you could argue it is very subtle. Nah, I'm kidding myself.

What color is your car?

Try to find access to a random orbital polisher. Polish the engine lid with a very fine cut polish. Reseal. Then apply new badge.
