One Single New Tire OK
'15 GTS. I got a nail in one the of the rear tires. The tires only have 2k miles on them.
I have the tire insurance and the dealer is putting on a new tires. Is it ok to have 1 brand new tire and one with 2k miles?
It's at the dealer now.
Thanks!

That should be fine. Rear tires last about 20,000 miles. That's about 10% wear. Ask for the damaged tire back. Get it plugged and patched. Have ready as an emergncy spare.

Thank you everybody for your approval.
Normally I would have just patched the tire from the inside and kept on going but since I have the insurance might as will get the new tire.

Also, OP's insurance company may want the tire that was replaced.

On my great, great grandma's 911,......I'm usually done with mine between 6 & 10K, and I'm not a very hard driver on them. Maybe I'm using the wrong type of air.
As far as the patching/plug thing goes, my right rear got a nail in it around 4K, plugged it with it still being on the car. Now at 6k they both are down to the last MM or so of tread until hitting the wear bars
and both will be replaced soon. I hate having any tire changes done at all, just opens up the opportunity for some tire monkey to scratch, scrape, bang any part of the wheel or car. Even my dealer has
been guilty of it before. Just one of the things I dread on any car I own.....
