Default Lost 1 Key now using spare

So now that I have finally come to grips that my key and beautiful leather fob are not merely misplaced, but actually lost, (since I have benn using the spare for about a year now...) are there any cost effective (aka cheaper)alternatives to My local dealer for a replacement? Anyone else ever go through this?

You have to go to a dealer to get your new ( and old) keys programeed for your VIN.
You might ask an online dealer ( Suncoast ?) the price of the key fob as they may sell you that cheaper than your own delaer.

No, there are no less costly alternatives. Some dealers will give you a PCA Discount of 10% or so if you ask and are a member. Do not buy one off EBay. Do not buy one off Suncoast or an online dealer as you will find your local dealer will refuse to program it (sorry, Arter!). But do get one, because if you lose the remaining key you have its more expensive to reprogram with an entire new code series (plus the tow bill to get your car to the dealer).

With the cost of keys these days, it makes sense to buy this and put it with your key - that way you can at least track it and have a chance of recovery.

I actually wanted to make one just like in your situation.
I asked the dealer about 6month a go and the cost was 700$ which includes everything key and programming.
if you look for a key on eBay, you can find used key really cheap. If you have one, all you have to do is just to programm. They said the cost is 300$ in this case.
but idk all the dealer accept to bring a used key.
and please note, do not bring your key to local key programm shop. I know they do it cheaper, but for them it is really easy to get your information.

I just went through this last week. Lost my key 10 months ago.

$565 with 10% PCA discount.

No way around it.

Your insurance should cover up to $400. Shop dealers too. Huge price difference between them.

I’m facing this issue now, too. Besides the expensive key it had a carbon fiber cover and a Porsche fob. I’m just sick. Dealer wants $157 to program it. Seriously?? “We got you now. Bend over and cough.”
