Default What is the proper torque for engine oil drain bolt?

Hi. I'm new to this forum, just sold my M4 and moved to 2013 911 991 C4. < GREAT CAR!

I'm about to DIY my oil changes, as well as air / cabin air filters.

My selection is Mobile 0W40.

Also, will it be to low for Florida weather?

Thanks guys

The torque spec is 37 ft.lbs. Using a new crush washer.

Oil filter cap is 19 ft.lbs.

The cabin filters are very easy, just have to be a midget contortionist for the one under the glove box.

Mobil 0W40 is Porsche A40 approved. Mobil 5W50 is too, and a good selection for your Florida heat.

I don't have one. Might need to ask over on the 997 forum.

My local shop told me 37 was too high. Said they use 19 ft-lbs. I know that is what the manual says but....

In 991.1's

Oil drain plug to oil pan -- M18 x 1.5 replace sealing ring -- Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)

I don't know what the 991.2's are with the plastic oil pan.

991.2, just tighten until you hear the click. It'll be obvious once you do it. Standard on a lot of newer German cars with plastic oil pans.

I've been tightening mine to 25ft-lb and haven't had any issues after four oil changes like this on my 991.1.

Strange. 19 ft-lbs is only for the billet magnetic plug from L&N Engineering. I use this plug.

Yep. For the .2 there is no torque on the drain plug. It does need to be replaced every other oil change.
