Depending on lighting and conditions, the HUD on my C7 Z06 could be a little tougher to see with polarized glasses, but it generally worked fine. HUD is ok if you don't have to pay a big extra tab for it.

I miss the HUD and keyless entry I had on my BMW, but not even slightly enough to ever trade back. Bonus - I can use my polarized sunglasses again!

I've got a 2018 M3 with the HUD and I LOVE it. (My dad car) I don't understand why Porsche is taking so long to implement these. As far as sunglasses go, I've literally switched my sunglasses to versions that are not polarized specifically for this reason. Don't really miss the polarization anyway.

I went to these non-polarized lenses and like them better than any polarized lenses I've worn over the years. No issues on electronic displays of cars or helicopters I fly.

Sometimes being late is good. They have time to develop it which is always good in my book.

I don't think HUD would be appropriate on the 911. If it were implemented, it would trickle up rather than down. I don't think it's a gimmick, but I don't think it's great either.

Had HUD on my last M4. Liked it at the time. Find I don't miss it at all. In hindsight, seems more gimmicky to me than anything.

HUDs and the birds eye parking cameras are honestly the only two modern "tech" features I like in cars. They actually feel like they help me in being a safer, better driver. BMW still has the best HUD in the business by a long way though Mercedes are catching up. If Porsche's is just the parts bin Audi HUD its got a long way to go to catch up. BMW lets you interact with things like your playlist or your radio station on the HUD itself using the steering wheel controls. You don't ever have to look down at the screen and can keep your eyes on the road. My new e63 also has a HUD, but it feels more basic than the one in my 4 year old M4 was. Its still better than looking down and across at the nav screen for directions for example but it could be a lot better.

Yup same here. Had the HUD on my 2001 C5 Z06 and the 2007 C6 Z51. Man time does fly.

I ordered a 2000 C5 in May '99, delivered in Dec '99 and then picked up a 2006 C6 that I had ordered over the summer of 2005 in Nov 2005. Since then, we've had three kids and the oldest is almost 12 years old. Where the heck did that time go?

I had HUD in my C5 Vette. It was useful, sure, but it would get washed out sometimes in strong sunlight, especially if I had my polarized sunglasses on.

I thought I would miss it when I got my 911, but not really.

I think Porsche should introduce it in the 992 911, so long as it's an optional feature. Customers can decide what they want, and I'm sure it'll help Porsche's bottom line.

One thing I don't like from the original picture is that new gear lever. It looks like a joystick from a cheap arcade game.
