I bought my first 991S from CARMAX and elected not to get their extended warranty. My car was still under the factory warranty and decided to take the risk that any that was going to fail, would most likely fail within the first four years. It all depends on your risk tolerance, of course, but you will find that the 991 has been fairly reliable.

It is a 5 year warranty from purchase date at Carmax- so in my example I have 1 year of factory warranty, then this will kick in for an additional 4 years/ 75k on the clock.
