Carrera Sport wheels painted gloss black, bad idea?
No experience in these, but thinking since they are black, rock chips and debris from road might mark them up pretty bad. If so maybe I could touch them up with paint?
Thoughts? Tks

Just be careful with them, that gloss black paint scratches if you even look at it. Those big flat areas on the front of the wheel would cause me concern. Touch up can be a real challenge depending on the location and size, prevention is better than curing issues, lol. I have gloss black Carrera S wheels and I never touch them except when washing and there is nothing I am aware of that will keep very faint hairline scratches off them other than never driving the car, it's just the nature of soft gloss black paint on wheels. I am scared of the day I have to get new tires, not sure how I am going to handle that.

As soon as you drive the car and touch the brakes gloss black wheels go matte. I have matte P101 and love them. Gloss AG on my SQ5 and they look amazing right after I wash them but.................

I have those on my GT Silver and love the look. They have a deeper dish towards the center than many of the other OEM wheels. However, brake dust becomes more apparent more quickly on them than on my prior silver wheels due to the contrast. But it's not too terrible.
You do have to use TLC when cleaning them and certainly use lots of soapy water and microfiber sponges and/or rags to lift away abrasives . I've been trying Chemical Guys Wheel Guard Max Coat wax which gives them a nice glossy finish but doesn't seem to slow the dusting any.
I had tried to use the Armor All Brake Dust repellent spray and while it does that well on the spokes, it is nearly impossible to apply on the barrels since it has to be sprayed on. it also leaves a little bit of a dull haze anywhere that gets a little too much spray. I've stopped using it.
Here's some photos of them clean and with probably a little over 400 fairly aggressively-driven miles on them (two lengthy weekend jaunts plus some misc driving since the last cleaning). This is about as dirty as I let them get. They still look good at a normal viewing distance, but up close the dust is pretty apparent.
They are still easily a keeper for me... I just get a little more exercise with them. So I've not noticed any significant chips... it seems to be less chip prone than my prior silver-painted OEM wheels.
Here's the dusty pictures... but that is with a fair number of miles on them and with some sporty driving in the curvies of the Texas Hill Country.

I think the wheels are awesome looking and would not give them up for a little maintenance. They are painted so you could even Xpel the black painted areas only for protection. Brake dust is brake dust, looks like crap on all wheel colors.

I agree, even on Matte or Satin wheels. Actually I had satin black on a Spyder and it is much harder to clean than a gloss finish. Seems like the brake dust grips the satin finish more. I tried armor all wheel spray which looks horrible after drying, but works perfect on a gloss wheel finish.
