Default 2018 GTS--A few silly questions

3 week old GTS. Long term Porsche owner. Was washing the GTS this morning and notice a few things:

1. There was quite a bit of white smoke upon start up this morning. Only 800 miles on the car and my 993 will do the same thing when it sits for a few days, but have others experienced this? Not overly concerned at this point since the car is so new, but seemed a little odd.

2. This is my first car with "Entry and Drive"from Porsche. While washing it, the car kept locking and unlocking and the frunk even popped open a few times. I had the key in my pocket. What can I do to stop this? It was pretty annoying.

A few obligatory pics from last weekend when my brother and I were on the way to Luft 5--took some pics with his Irish Green original 914-6. You can see the 997 and 993 cab peeking out of the garage as well. It is becoming clear I have a Porsche problem.

Put the key away from the car when washing and it will take care of frank opening when spraying.

Nice stable.

1. If the car is brand new, the white "smoke" could be either condensation or the burning off of solvents and sealant inside the new exhaust system.

2. Porsche actually recommends leaving the car in the vehicle while washing it. But moving the key away from the car or at least taking it out of your pocket works as well.

I typically leave my key in the car while washing it, and I no longer experience the issue you described.

Great looking 914!

Is your wife a bigger Porsche nut than you?

I created a monster when we started dating in college and I taught her how to drive a manual transmission in my 85 MKII GTI. But I think we can all agree this is a much better addiction than having a wife buying shoes, pursues or jewelry all the time.

hmmm... my wife drives the GTS to go buy shoes, handbags, and jewelry. I didn’t realize it was an “or” thing.

Good for both of you. Even though cars depreciate, shoes, purses, and jewelry have less residual value.
