I just happened to find myself in the same position this past week and it is maddening. I know the keys are around the house somewhere because I drove the car home! Well my wife just called me and told me that on a whim she decided to see if the car would start without the key and she said "vroom, vroom" it started right up. Apparently the key fell out of my pocket. She didn't have time to search for it. But it is either in the car on in the garage somewhere near it!!! I will find it when I get home. Thought you might want to give it a try, you never know...

Yup, found it. It fell out of my right pocket and was hiding deep down in between the seat and center console. My last drive was home from the gym and my gym shorts are notorious for keys, change, etc sliding out while I drive. Worth a look!
