Default Is it ok to park / store a 991 Targa with the top down?

I recall reading that with Cabriolets, it is not a good idea to park and store the car in the top down position as it could permanently crease the soft top. Does this apply to the 991 Targa also?

Thanks!

Should be fine as there's no fold.

PS- remember, critters love a car interior...

Thank you, much appreciated! Yes, that's true about the critters, although so far my garage seems to be critter free (knock on wood).

I keep the top up because there is a small fold when down. Watch the mechanics during the process.

Why would you want to store the car with the top down? Seems like an odd question. It is so important to store with no areas open to varmints. They get into any opening you leave and then the fun begins.

There is a fold and if you keep it down you'll get a crease. Ask me how I know...

Parking in the garage for a day or two is fine. Storing the car for 2 months is no bueno. How long do you intend?

I really meant parking it for a week or so. Since I want to put the least wear on the complex roof mechanics, if i park it for the week in my garage knowing I'd drive it with the top down again, is it necessary to close the roof each time.

So does dust.

I'd get the smart top installed. Low cost to install ~$400 bucks for a DIY. Push the key fob three times as you walk away. Ez pz. Problem solved.

I think you're worried too much. Those top mechanisms are tested for thousands of cycles.

Don't leave it down.

Not a Targa but I used to park my Boxster in my garage with the top down. Made it easier getting in and out of the car. No problems except for some dust.

That's because they are in dealerships.
