911.2 C2 as daily driver in NY

I honestly don’t drive that often. For example, I put maybe 1200 miles on the Cayenne in 4 months. My commute is only 2 miles so it isn’t terribly far. But I do make the occasional trip to Queens, which is my main concern.

I agree with the previous point: its the hazards/potholes and not the snow. In the worst conditions the train + Uber is fine 5 days a year. Im getting tired on the other 360 days of dodging potholes all the time and then getting mad when I hit one. lately, 2 days a week Ive been taking back the SUV my son had adopted from me for high school.
Think twice depending on how much commuting you need to do on bad roads..... better yet try it and just be willing to change your strategy.

Boston’s roads are also garbage. I have 19” winters... that are sadly STILL on. Ready for the summers.
Yes you need to be very aware of the roads and potholes and other garbage. Even with them, and the traffic I deal with everyday, I still love this car every time I jump into it!

I'm in NYC and I have no problems with my C2S. I use 19" winters on mine (got a great bargain here in the parts marketplace). Like the others said, potholes and ground clearance are my biggest concerns. That plus other drivers hitting me. Your C2 + winter tires will do just fine.

I had 2 different 911's that I kept in NY but mostly drove outside of NY. However the few times I did drive in NY, I can say for sure the 9991 C2S with PASM was more comfortable than the 991 GTS with SPASM. I think if you drive in NY or anywhere there are potholes I would avoid SPASM and opt for 19" wheels for a DD.

My Porsche is my only car and I drive it in the city (mostly on the way to or from Eastern Long Island, upstate or New England.) I have been driving a 997.2 C4S with 17" tires in the winter without major issues although I sometimes cancel my plans when a major storm is predicted.
In spec-ing out its successor, I went with a C4 with 19" wheels.
I went with the C4 to give me a bit more traction in the winter although I suspect that having good winter tires and the engine over the drive wheels will be sufficient almost always. Echoing the advice that you've gotten here, I selected with the smaller wheels for comfort and protection against potholes. I did not get SPASM to preserve ground clearance. I will be having a good plastic film and ceramic coating applied to protect the paint and you should probably do the same. Finally, I will probably be getting the wheel and tire insurance if the price is not too extortionate.
