Default Scam alert!

Not that anyone here would fall for this scam but hoping that something can be done about these kinds of ads: https://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/c...551146237.html
First response from seller:
Hi, the Porsche is still available for $49,500. It has 8,763 miles, clean title, no accidents and no money owing on it, and I recently had it inspected by the specialists from National Auto Inspections LLC and has been rated in excellent condition. I have attached both the AutoCheck Report and the Inspection Report to this email for you.I am a pilot and I just got a very good contract with Virgin Atlantic in London and I need the money for an advance on a house here in UK, that's why I am in a hurry to sell it.I have left the car there in US at a freight company, with all the paperwork (title signed by me, keys, service records, etc) so they can handle everything for me. Let me know if you are interested and here is a link with more pictures: https://photos.app.goo.gl/wYMm5Ly7kxr6K3sB2Regards,Mark Rees+44 7441 917041
After multiple emails and txt messages saying that if everything checked out I would buy the car the seller finally sent me this response:I have the car now at Edmunds Detroit Sales Office, with the title, signed by me, keys and all the docs, and I have empowered them to transfer ownership on my behalf.Your will make payment to them, they will secure your payment and ship the vehicle (all shipping charges will be covered by me). You will receive it, inspect it for 3 days and if you accept it, they will pay me and transfer the title to your name, if not, they will pick it up from you and refund your full payment. To go ahead you will need to set up a transaction trough Edmunds on their website: http://www.edmunds.com.set-up-transaction.info using my reference number (PCAC1728AR).You can see the complete Inspection Report on my Edmunds listing here: http://www.edmunds.com.en-cars.info/...AB2A98DS120520Edmunds Sales 3331 West Big Beaver Road, Troy, MI 48084, USAPhone: (313) 332-4899Regards,Mark Rees+44 7441 917041
When I insisted that I would need to inspect the car first I never got a response. Txt to phone numbers worked but no one picked up. I googled the name and he really is a pilot and has a profile on Linkedin. Who falls for these scams?

Maybe the dealer should be alerted to the scam ad.

Maybe the old owner tried selling FSBO before going to the dealer. Most of these scammers just copy old for sale ads.

The scammer got the info from the prior owner's eBay listing here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Porsch...-/142700275231

It's word-for-word.

The Dr. is always serious.

Did you really think you'd pick this car up for $49K?? No red flags there?

It took me 10 seconds to google the VIN# and get the scoop. You should always do the same.

Also note that the URL provided is intended to make you think it's from Edmunds, but is really from "set-up-transaction.info". Read the URL from right to left to figure out the root domain. A whois lookup on this website shows that it's registered using a privacy protection service. Red flag. The real Edmunds.com website shows contact information for Edmunds in the whois info.

This is where I need to plug Kitboga on Twitch. He calls IRS and tech support scammers to waste their time, it's fantastic.

Uh... how this become about me? Should I not have highlighted this ad?? I caught on to the scam from the beginning but just thought I would see how far the crooks would go to try and fool me. Not everyone is as buyer and internet savvy as you guys. The fact that these criminals are doing this should tell you that enough people fall for it. My buddy has bought two cars in the past which you would have thought were "to good to be true". It's (very) rare but there are occasions that it can happen.
