Default Variable FOB range

I'm experiencing strange FOB range issues... Sometimes the car will pick up an unlock signal from the dark side of the moon (Ok, from pretty far across the lot), sometimes I'm 3 feet away and it's totally ignoring it / me... This morning only pulling the handle which "woke up the car" also woke up the FOB. Yet it locked from far away... and unlocked after a few attempts only tonight... . Obviously not battery, I replaced that, despite the old testing fine.. Seems to be the car itself sometimes sleeping deeply or (just thinking as I type) could be the button itself I suppose... Anyone else experience this, and a fix ? I'll start using the other key but I think i ditched that for the same reasons already, I forget...
Wondering if there's some hack to extend range or attention span ;-)

Check the owners manual but I believe the FOB sensor is under the lower part of the windshield on the passenger side. This could result in the variable distance for the FOB use depending if your on location wrt to the car. Also change the battery in the FOB. My FOB battery was alsmost dead and wouldn’t work unless I was within a foot of the sensor location.

I asked because if both keys with new batteries act the same way as you say, then show it to the dealer and they should hopefully deduce the receiver at fault.

Definitely not... Sadly... 2013 ! Oh well as long as I can open the door, it'll do. Everytime I've fixed FOB/key issues with dealers it cost a fortune and I coincidentally sold the car shortly after.

When you say "battery", I assume you are saying you changed FOB battery. Wondering if it could be your car battery is weak as this is what is powering the sensor?

I was serious about my phone in the pocket comment. I know that all my current cars, Porsche and non, as well as my past non-Porsches, having the phone right next to the key in my pocket blocked the signal significantly or completely.

If it's not the fob battery or the key batteries, it's usually the receiver in the car.

I am having issues with my fob as well - it worked great but about 48 hours ago, it barely works. I have an appt with my dealer next week, but there is definitely something wrong.

What did it end up being?

I am seeing variable range too from the FOB. I know battery is only 2 weeks old.
