Just asking. Is the PCM SIM card supposed to come with the car? There isn't one there... (I haven't checked the Owner's Manual.) Presumably XM/Sirius and SIM card connection features are available in the first 3 or so months, right?

No SIM card in 2018 991.2 - as far as I understand.

By SIM card, do you mean SD cards for music? If so, the spec show that it should have them. This is copied from a build pdf:

• SiriusXM® Satellite Radio (with 3-month trial) and HD Radio Receiver
• Sound Package Plus sound system featuring 8 Speakers and 150 Watt output
• Audio interfaces: CD/DVD drive, 11 GB internal jukebox storage, 2 USB slots and 2 SD card slots

I have two SD card slots (I will get those loaded with music soon)... No, that's not the ask. In-between the two SD card slots is a slot for a cell-phone type SIM card. With my previous Audi's, the slot came pre-filled with a SIM card, which was activated and then provided me with in-car connectivity that could be used to create an in-car hotspot. On the 991.2, maybe most of the traffic and other info comes through Sirius/XM... but doesn't the car come with the following? (Per the configurator.)

"Connect Plus incl. Online Navigation Module, Apple® CarPlay, telephone module, and wireless internet access, as well as Porsche Car Connect including Carfinder, Remote Vehicle Status, Remote Services, and Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (PVTS)"

...At least on a temporary basis?

See this tread below (post #9) - in 2018 991.2 cars the SIM card has been replaced with some hardwired connection - not needed anymore. Any yes - you get three month free of Sirius. Apple CarPlay works via the center console storage USB connection - and there is of course no time limit on that.

Clear sidelights are standard fitment on new 911s in the U.K.

But we do have to have front number plates...

I’ve told my dealer to leave the front plate off. Going to get a smaller stick on one

Good luck with the collection today btw

Hmmm - I maybe should've done that. Hey ho. Been too busy at work. And maybe concerned of the legality of a smaller stick on number plate...

Just about to set off...

Here they typically dont put plates on until you pay for the car. In your case, its gonna look perfect with the yellow plate and racing yellow. Dont even worry about it.

And. That was the last we saw of him. I hope it is a sunny day in the UK. (actually... it looks sunny today, rainy tomorrow.. so doubt we'll see him soon.)

That thread on the SIM card is very useful. Good to check out.

[Edit: OK... It has been 11 hours since the Wing Commander set off. If you are driving around the UK, please check the ditches and /or valet station in front of that fancy restaurant.]
