Default PPF $??

Whats a reasonable quote for Xpel ultimate on the front 1/3 of the car (including mirrors)? 1700 from a reputable installer sound about right?

Sounds like a good price to me. Same coverage including the headlights is ~$2400 on SoCal.

BUT, you should be looking for the best and busiest shop in town - not the cheapest.

That's exactly what I paid in the Detroit area a year and half ago for the entire front bodywork, including the mirrors and minus the headlights. In my opinion, the installer did an excellent job.

Just another point of comparison, but with SunTek Ultra (also 10yr warranty, self-healing, hydrophobic): The coverage areas you called out were listed at $1400, then $1800 for the "track package" shown in the center below. That included wrapped edges for the hood and the gas cap.

I ended up getting full PPF and that covered everything that wasn't glass after negotiating a deal on that. Here's a photo I took of the display in their store as a reference for what I might get if I went with the track package. Their workmanship was outstanding so this wasn't a discount shop. I seems that pricing varies quite a bit based on where you live from my observations.

Right on. Anyone get this price through the dealer or by doing homework? Just curious.

MIne is holding up fine, other than showing evidence of a view pebble hits. But then that's the point of PPF. I took mine to the shop on my own without dealer involvement. Saved a few hundred as I recall.

Nope. Paid $2400 at dealer. ~$500 more than locally. Did want to risk the 25 mile drive after delivery.

Thats why im picking up the car with the stickers on it. Gonna drive to the installer in the right lane driving like a grandma.
Doesnt the dealer usually farm out the ppf to an independent installer? I would imagine they need to drive it somewhere too

I don't think the dealer is going to do their own installation and if they did I would still prefer a shop that makes it their business. I imagine they have someone else do it and do some sort of split on the money. I agree they would likely drive it somewhere that has a fairly clean room setup for PPF.

In Austin, the SunTek shop I used does the dealer PPF for Aston Martin, Lotus, Rolls, and Bentley, along with a lot of private party Porsches. (I got the pleasure of seeing a new DB11 in their shop when I was getting mine done). It was one of several reasons I trusted them. It might be interesting to ask any shop you are considering if they do any dealer PPF and if so which ones... it would be a good word in their favor if they are trusted routinely with exotic-level cars.

curious where in Detroit? I’m picking up my gts from Ann Arbor and quoted 2200 for full front by the most reputable shop in Detroit area (clear auto bra). Seemed expensive given the best shop in St. Louis is charging 1300 for same job and same material.

Curious as well. Congrats on the GTS. I got mine there last fall from Jay. Great dealership experience.

Yes a guy with a pickup going from dealer to dealer often with a lesser product installing in less than ideal dusty conditions.

Much better is to get some scraps from the better installer to stick on for the trip from the dealer.
