Default Radar, ALP, and backup Camera Install

I have been a RL member for about a year, about the same time I picked up my 2013 C2S. RL was a great resource in helping me buy my Porsche and has been an invaluable resource in educating me in everything from ceramic coatings to repairs to modifications. I finally decided to make some improvements to my 991.1 after owning it for a year. It didn't have a factory backup camera, and while I have managed without one for the past year, it was something that I wanted to have for safety. In addition, I had been using a passport 9500 radar detector with a Blendmount mirror mount (thank you RL for learning about that accessory!) and decided it was time to upgrade to a fully integrated front and rear radar (Radenso) and also install ALP for laser defense (and to use as a parking sensor).

I have seen the great work done by Musicar Northwest and reached out to Nick to see if he had any installers he would recommend in New England. He pointed me to Jeremy Katz of JK Automotive Designs (just north of Boston) as one of the best in the East. I met with Jeremy to discuss the different options and ultimately ended up with the new Radenso RC-M front and rear radar integrated with the AL Priority laser system (3 heads in the front, 2 in the back). In addition, he installed the NavTV rear camera.

I can highly recommend Jeremy and his team. They are professional, knowledgeable, and their work is excellent.

Here is the link to JK Automotive designs Facebook page with pictures of the install.

I am attaching a few pictures of the install for those who don't have FB

Trying a new FB link as I seem to be technically challenged.

Looks awesome. Love the way they integrated control unit into silly [cigarette] tray.

Nice! ALP is the best unit out there for laser so you picked a good one.

Jeremy worked on my car as well (ALP+Stinger). Expensive, but you do get exceptional quality of work. His ALP installation also did pretty well in testing.

I’ve been searching for a DIY install on a 991 for the ALP and have not found one. I installed it on my ‘17 F250 and enjoyed it. But have a fear with this car. Any ideas? Not feeling like paying $1000 when I could DIMY on a nice Saturday afternoon with some tunes and a little Tito’s.

You can get some ideas from @flickroll as he is installing ALPs with custom help from Musicar

Call up Nick at MusicarNorthwest. I had already bought the ALP system along with Netradar antennas. Then I talked to Nick. That discussion made me rethink my radar detection selection, as well as doing a stealth installation. So I wound up with an Escort Max CI radar system (will be Max CI 360 as soon as Escort ships the rear antenna - I have already run the wire for the antenna), along with custom laser sensor housings. I’ll let you guess what state I live in but laser jammers and radar detectors are illegal, so I needed a stealth installation. I am just finishing up the DIY installation of the system that Musicar sent to me. Has been a lot of work but also very rewarding. I have learned a lot about my car, pictures to follow soon. Also, dealing with Musicar has been great because they have provided a lot of technical support during the installation.
