Imagine driving through a city and trying to navigate driving so you don't run over the poop bombs. Poop covered tires and wheel wells can't be fun.

The flashes are pretty common in my neck of the woods. I thought it was common cross the country.....?

The average Panny, Cayenne, or Macan driver has no clue what the wave even is. Add the high female contingency into those, and they'd look at you like you're insane or a stalker.

I live in San Francisco and I get plenty of waves back. Probably 90% return rate on a fellow 911, and slightly less on Boxsters/Caymans/924s/944s/etc. I do not even try with Cayennes, Macans or Panameras though.

I love this "tradition". I flash&wave at 911s in Toronto all the time. Always get a wave back. Love it.

Do you every catch yourself waving to other 911s/Boxsters/Caymans when in your daily driving non-Porsche? Hahahahahah, people probably think I know them, or I'm a crazy man!

Here in the Seattle area I have yet to see any Porsche wave or flash when I am out in my 911. Quite different on the motorcycle though. Everyone waves except for the chopper guys.

I give Harley riders the "low V" all this time when out in the car on country roads. They crack up at me.

I've done something worse than that..... I've waived at a few Porsches while cycling. I was wearing a Porsche cycling jersey though.

Stretchy shorts with the padded ball-sac area, too? Not a good look on the average dad.

As a cyclist, this is pretty funny but honest.

With regard to the original question, people around here would look at you like you're crazy if you flashed your lights or waved at them. As a Porsche owner you're not that important or impressive in the land of Ferrari's, Lamborghini's and McLaren's.

Do you think that is why people wave or flash their lights at each other? I think it is more about the love of the car, brand and community.

Not saying that at all. I'm just expressing the automobile as an accessory culture here in Newport Beach, CDM, Laguna area of Southern California.

You guys should try driving a Juke around, the official wave to other Juke drivers is the middle finger.

Default Jeeps

I can tell which jeep wrangler driver is gonna give the wave by the vehicle itself. The 4 door soccer mom version will never wave, the guy with a bikini top half doors and KC lights will always wave. Millenials have a problem waving in general because that would mean they have to look away from their device.
