Default Mirror housing refinish?

My 991 search has brought me to a beautiful Carrera S with low miles at a decent price, but has a pretty significant scratch on the passenger side mirror housing. See pic, below. What would be required to get the mirror refinished or otherwise fixed? What would something like that cost? Would it be easier/less expensive to simply buy a new plastic mirror-housing top from somewhere?

Please advise! Thanks in advance....

go to a body shop and ask for a price. I think that may rub out with compound

New mirror housings DO NOT come painted. As mentioned, this one looks like it can be repaired without a respray. Hard to tell from the pic. Regardless, can be fixed for a reasonable price.

Not sure if this is something you'd consider, but someone recently posted photos of a carbon overlay for the mirror in this post:

That Sport Design mirror is a little different, but there's likely one for yours too.

Hard to tell in the pic....is the scratch deep?

Good thing is even if it needs a respray, they won't have to blend the spray to other body panels like they do when respraying a bumper, door, etc. so it should be fairly inexpensive.

Good news - Dealer says they will refinish it before sale. Thanks!

Note...these are Carbon Fiber Mirror shells for the upper mirrors...not overlay. They replace the OEM ABS part. Great option IMHO LOL and they do make them for both OEM and Sports Design Mirror sets which I upgraded to. I think Suntrust has Sport Design ones for about $750.

Great. Make sure they find a shop to cover them with Xpel or some sort of protective film. Will help prevent future repeat issues/occurrences.

Thank you for the correction. I had missed that they were actual replacements. Looks great!

Good idea, but you should wait a bit. The general recommendation for paint curing time before PPF installation is 6 to 8 weeks... but certainly not right away.
