Radar Detector Question
I'm getting ready to do a Blendtec/Escort 360 mount on my rearview mirror on my 991.2 C4S.
Is there a problem with reception if the windshield is tinted with ceramic/metalized tint? Will the detection be compromised?

Ceramic and metallic are two different types of tint. Radar does not pass through metal, so if you have metallic tint you should replace it with ceramic (or do without windshield tint). Laser is blocked by all tint types.

A long time ago I bought a new passport, with gps, red lite camera, etc. It didnt come with a visor clip. I always have my passport on the visor. I called escort and asked to buy one and why wasnt one included. They told me if it was on the visor it wouldnt get gps because the roof would block it, so they dont allow them to be used. I bought one on ebay I think. After I set it up and drove around town, I never got any signal loss on the gps/satellite icon, everything worked fine radar works fine. I kept it on my visor and its been thru 3 or 4 more different cars since then. I do notice it says, gps signal lost, when you go in parking garages, tunnels. Aside from that, I dont think escort knew what they were talking about. If getting satellite signals from above, through the roof does not affect the reception, and radar signals are also received 360 from the front of the car and from the back, thru the whole window and roof metal, and tints on the rear glass, I dont think it will be affected by tint, of any kind. But if it does, be sure to tell us.

over designed which causes the RD to sit to low on mirror. But other than that it works great.

I'd just like to point out that most GPS systems will report no loss once they can pick up 5 or 6 satellites, but their accuracy is compromised by up to several hundred feet. In the clear they should pick up around ten or more to get the roughly 2 meter accuracy car navigation systems work best with. GPS inaccuracy is not a big deal for the radar detectors since they just need to know the general area you are in.
Similarly, I'd imagine that radar detection will occur with a metallic tint, but the range will be compromised. It will be fine with ceramic. If you want maximum range don't use a metallic tint. Here's RadarBuster's take on it. Although this article primarily addressed windshields with a metallic content, at the end they also mention tint:
