Glad to help. I stumbled into the first one several years ago when I got my first 997, so each time I get a new model I hunt the new Techniks manual down.

I just finished the 991.2 one today. There was quite a few surprises for me in there! Since each one largely talks about the changes from the previous generation, it can be helpful to scan over the preceding one(s) too.

7and911, I'm not sure what you are asking (you typed 911.1 so that isn't a thing). The ones above cover all models of Carreras from 2005 to 2018.

Sorry for the typo. Meant to say 991.1 (C4S cabrio)

Surprising to see a "double clutch" was added to the 991.2 car due to the added engine power and torque.

Hopefully last longer than the single plate unit and helps with normal clutch slip in day to day traffic.

Does anyone have any experience with double clutch plates and day to day durability ?

Don't think I have heard of a street car that uses a multi-clutch disk...

Use to have a 7-plates clutch in my Ducati... but that is a different system altogether.

Yeah, that is a good find! It certainly says something about the additional torque in the 911.2 engine. But it is also a little worrisome as to its eventual effect on clutch replacement costs.

If others find anything they think is particularly interesting or unexpected in these docks please feel free to post them.

One thing I hadn't run into with driving yet is that the PDK's behavior at redline changed in the 991.2. Maybe it was in the manual and I missed it. Previously if you used the kick-down to cause the PDK to downshift, even in "manual" mode, the PDK would also automatically upshift at redline. In the 991.2 it never automatically does an upshift in manual mode... it just bounces off the rev-limiter.

Replacement costs would be certainly 1.5x (at a minimum more expensive than an Norma single plate unit; just applying normal logic (then add the Porsche uptick on top of that).

I forgot to ask...Is there anyway to dig up one of these manuals for the 2017 Macan GTS?

I've only ever found these by doing a web search, with Technik being one of the key words. There are hardcopy versions of these too and I had a 997.2 one for a while that I got off eBay, but gave it to the buyer of that car.

I see some references on the web to a 2015 Macan version but can't seem to get a link to a real copy.

I did a little more poking around for additional manuals and see that EBS Racing is kind enough to have some of them online for download at https://www.ebsracing.com/articles/p...-downloads-wws

These include Technik info for:
  • 2017 Boxster 718
  • 2017 Carrera (The same one I posted earlier)
  • 2016 Cayman GT4
  • 2014 GT3
  • 2014 Turbo and Turbo S
