Has anyone done a CarPlay retrofit for 991.1

Has anyone experienced issued with their rearview camera cutting out? Mine was working flawlessly all year, and now, when I put the vehicle in reverse, the camera image shows briefly and then goes to a black screen. It's almost like the car isn't sure it's in reverse.
I'm going to check the connections near the license plate and go from there.

After reading thru all the posts related to the topic on here, I took the plunge and installed the Joyeauto system into my 991.1S. The only snag during installation was the unit is now powered thru an ACC wire that needs tapping into the fuzebox...this wasn't on any installation literature or on youtube. I lost a few heart beats wondering what I'd broken, but the tech support was online early to tell me the fix. Next project is to add front and rear reversing cameras for that 'not parking by braille' feeling.
Thanks to all the previous posters in this and other threads, not sure I would have been brave enough to crack into my pride and joy without this knowledge base. If you're on the fence about this project just be like Nike. Its totally worth it.

Try the following if you haven’t done so already. Reboot your phone, if tethered (cable to PCM) disconnect and turn off your vehicle and open the door. Close door, connect/tether phone and turn on vehicle and launch CarPlay.

I suspect it is related to how much power the iPhone 11s draw with the updated fast charging hardware.
I suppose another reason to upgrade to wireless CarPlay!

Thanks. I already tried OEM Apple cable, rebooting, and two different cars with the unichip box. I think its an MFI auth thing since these kind of devices aren't MFI certified with Apple.

I have the NMautomotive Kit I purchased from Nick Marquis last October and it works perfectly with iOS 13.1. His kit is not wireless, but I’m hoping he will have a fix/upgrade in the near future.
