Don't know about the average and I doubt anyone does. My Carrera 4 GTS Coupe took four months and 11 days.

My GTS coupe was close to 3 months order to delivery, but I happened to get an open allocation that locked soon after I took it. Early port helped too.

Yeah. Ordered in April of 2017. Build date was in July because factory was switching from 2017s to 2018s (mine is a 2018). So I ordered at the wrong time.
Delivery was mid-August.

Ordered 9/18, latest status shows 3/30 at dealer.

My SA says his own personal GTS is taking just as long.

"How long" depends in part on the allocation. Each allocation has its own lock date, build date, etc. If you order a month before it locks, that month adds to the time from order to delivery. Order in March / April and you are likely to see a longer delay before lock because of year-end transitions.

Time from lock to delivery is usually estimated at 10 weeks, and is often 8-9 weeks because of the buffers they build into the schedule. Transport from point to point (factory to port, port across ocean) is often faster than the estimate. Not always, though, which is why the estimates are what they are - they're going for the worst "normal" case. Unexpected delays can always add time.

Note that "dealer inventory" doesn't mean you can actually take possession of the car. There's dealer prep, and the title ships separately. In my case it was 6 days after the dealer had the car before they were ready, and my schedule pushed that back another day.

For me, the it was 4 weeks after my order before it locked, 7 weeks from lock to delivery, and 8 weeks from lock to actually taking possession.

I was told 90-120 days from order to delivery. That was too long for me.

^^^^^

And that all assumes your lock date doesn’t keep sliding randomly for no appearant reason.

I think I'd be pissed about now, if I were you. I got a brand new allocation for a GTS coupe, and order was placed on 10/12. The date to dealer was back and forth between 3/9-3/16 for quite a while, which was right at 5 months. Vehicle ended up being fixed on 12/7 (still had 3/9 at dealer date), and miraculously finished assembly on 12/21 (incl. the extra Porsche Exclusive steps), and is now in the Atlantic steaming its way to Jax. Will be at the dealer before the end of the month. Went from 5 months to around 3.5 months seemingly overnight. Go Figure.
