Thus, i would rather see if I can make this an easier task in the 991.1. The 992 is def not for me My NA option is limited in the 991.2, so I think i'll keep enjoying the 991.1 until one of those NA 991.2 comes along.

It a braket designed for safety becaus the lead acid battery is so heavy. For example in a frontal crazy the Lead/Acid battery is about 55 lbs.... so with a dead stop from even 20MPH that Lead/Acid battery could fly out of the normal hold down very easy and at 50MPH might blow a hole through the Frunk Hood because mass and the energy exponentially go up as the MPH increases... it is not a 1 to 1 ration... you throw a 2 lbs brick for example at 2 MPH and it has a impact for of about 10lbs (this is not accurate just an example) but if you take that up to 20 MPH that brick now has exponentially more force and will smash stuff pretty bad.... that it up to 50 MPH and it going to go through sheet metal.... not think of a 55lbs lead brick... it just crazy the force that will have at 50MPH.... anyway that is what that extra strap is there for...

My auto start stop stopped working so I got a battery monitor and ran some tests.. Cranking voltage 7.85v! LOL So I'll be replacing it very soon.

FWIW the battery was dated June 2013 so it's lasted just over 11 years

Is that what Porsche told you? And if so, do that also use that bracket in a GT3 with a lithium battery?

Then why do not all manufactuers use a bracket like that. They either use a hold-down at the base of the battery or a strap across it with a couple of threaded J-hooks and nuts holding the battery down. Porsche does both and actually the strap on the Porsche does not hold anything down, so there is only one battery hold-down.

It might be in that the Porsche can see far more track days than other cars.

Got myself two almost identical H8 Everstart AGM battery. One is made in Korea and the other made in Germany (based on S/N, it's by Johnson Control/Clarion).

Anyone familiar with the Everstart? Should I go with the one made in Korea or Germany?

I didn't need to take any cases off for that bracket. An 8- or 10-inch extension for the socket wrench did the job for me. It's not hard and I think Porsche's engineers would have used a lower weight tie-down if it did the job they wanted. I figure there are some cases or calculations where a tie-down didn't do the job since they went with the metal strap.

My original OEM battery lasted approximately 10 years. Just replaced it myself in roughly 30 minutes including programming the BMS. Did not connect CTEK and none of my memory was lost during the 5 minutes power was disconnected. Nothing to be nervous about!

I did the same last weekend. It was very easy and I just removed the plastic tyre/tire pump before taking the metal bracket off.

I connected the CTEK and removed the old battery. After a couple of minutes I got what sounded like a loud relay clicking and it didn't stop. I disconnected the CTEK and fitted new battery and had no issues with any of the car settings etc.

My start/stop function immediately started working again. 2013 C2S
