For this purpose, the turbochargers are “primed” during sporty driving in the part load range. Here, the wastegate valves are closed, the ignition point is retarded and the throttle valve is closed slightly. In this way, the current drive torque remains the same, the air-flow rate through the engine is increased and the boost pressure upstream of the throttle valve rises. During subsequent acceleration with fully depressed accelerator pedal (throttle valve fully open), the required boost pressure and a higher torque are immediately available.

On sport + you can see the gauge (which is not accurate at all) feather between 0 and 1 at a stand still. That's the strategy above. The modes do not change the turbo pressure. The change in the electronic accelerator makes the car reach higher pressures quicker, but the mechanics are the same, it can still be perceived as increase in power. The TT has an alleged overboost, for a different forum discussion.

Want instant turbo boost? With the advent of electric turbos that will be available for the 992, you'll be able to get full boost off idle, fat & and flat all the way to redline, with no exhaust back pressure. Imagine a GT3 TT with 9000 rpm redline and all that instant boost! Maybe we will see the return of flat sixes with displacement in the 2.0 - 2.7L range again, but with 400+ to 700+ HP range. That should get some excitement going in the Porsche fan base. Try to picture the exhaust sounds possible, with no turbos in the exhaust.

i don’t think this is correct. If you look at some of the videos on the web of the stock turbos boosting with a chip upgrade vs how the boost spools up when car is stock, it’s clear the boost is being bled by the software. These turbos spool up way quicker when left alone without bleeding.

But yes, electric turbos sound like fun. Read about them years ago, but no one is actually installing them in cars.
