Default 991.1 POWERKIT BREAK-IN PERIOD

I'm considering the installation of the x51 powerkit on my 2013 991.1. The car has 7200 miles on it currently. What would the break-in period period be?
Thanks

The time it takes to get from closed throttle to WOT, I suspect. I don't know why there would be any break-in. The engine itself is already fully broken-in.

The power kit does not include any engine internals. What would there be to break in?
Carrera X51 Powerkit
Increases performance to 430 hp. Contains:
  • modified cylinder heads and camshafts
  • newly developed variable resonance intake system featuring 6 plus 1 switchable valves
  • center radiator
  • Optional Sport Exhaust System with specially designed dual twin-tube tailpipes
  • revised engine control unit including new engine compartment styling with a titanium colored cover and carbon inserts

Why is breakin only limited to engine internals? Aren't there moving parts associated with the power kit? I suspect the X51 upgrade package would come with some guidance in this area.

Yes. See 9ELOVIN's post above.

@ One Bar, I would guess that an easy 500 miles and an oil change after would be sufficient.

Same advice for a brand new car, too. Get the oil up to operating temp, drive it hard.

All new cylinder heads certainly qualifies as engine internals.

We had a Rennlister do the PowerKit on his 991.1. There is a break in procedure. I'm sure he'll chime in soon, or I can search for it later.

I saw that including his quotes which was why I was challenging him.

I agree completely on a new Porsche engine but let's not get into that debate again. The only thing that gave me pause was that the modification is a retrofit even though it is from the factory.

Agree but don't the cam shafts count as well?

Search for a thread started by randr about the powerkit install. He had some specifics on what the recommended break in process was after his installation was done.

This is the one I was thinking of:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1000...-suncoast.html

you can read it all or just skip past a bunch of the back and forth and go to post #132 where randr talks about the post-install pick up and break in guidelines.

Modern engine construction does reduce the need for breaking in, but imo it always makes sense to keep high throttle loads light for 500-1000 miles. Cams will need to run into followers and I assume they will use new followers as changing cams with run in to different cams is a bigger ask
