first I would go to a tire shop and have them use the signal strength meter and see if the sensors are putting out signal. maybe the meter will say the frequency too

I confirmed with my dealership that sensors for 991.1 cars won't work with 991.2's.

I got the sensors changed today at my local NTB. $130. Since they don't know anything about Porsches specifically, they were kind of dubious about whether the sensors would work, and disavowed any responsibility since their online information stopped at 2016 models. From prior experience I know the sensors are require no intervention beyond notifying the car that you've got new tires via the TPMS menu, so I wasn't worried.

Yes, the Tire Rack sensors did work. The only hiccup was that they refused to link while driving home, almost certainly because I had the old sensors in my pocket. My experience with wheel changes in the past is that transporting wheels with sensors in the passenger compartment interferes with linking, and this was no different.

Piece of PVC, two end caps, shrader valve, some foam, replace TPMS with rubber stems.

In general, how long should TPM last?

My car is a Feb 2016 build and as of last month all four sensors had 127 months off life left according to the PPI. That works out to about 12 years. If I can recall correctly 997 TPMS lasted about 7 years.

Thanks Gus for the TR information. I’ll order a set to be installed for next winter.

Default How do you know if your 997 has TPMS?

Hey Rennlister's!

I am the proud owner of my first 911, a sweet 2006 977.1!! I just replaced the tires and wheels, along with front tie rods, brakes, rotors and painted the calipers and was wondering how do I know of the car actually has the TPMS system? I purchased the wheels with the TPMS transmitters installed. Was this $150 wasted?

Thanks much - Keith

I read somewhere and (I am wishing is true) but not holding my breath to it. Would 991.2 TPMS work on a 991.I am in this situation. Any one here have insight?
