The only problem with ventilated seats is dirt or cleaning liquid getting into the holes which makes them look dirty.

I found the black seats in the cooled version look more silver due to the greater perforated surface area relative to solid leather. There are more perforations overall on the cooled seats, including on the side panels which are solid on heated/regular seats.

Thus even when clean they tend to look "dirty", and I did find that they picked up a lot more dust and dirt - I had a cab though and lived in dusty arizona - requiring a lot of vacuuming. Lastly I didn't like how leather conditioner didn't really make the seats look dark/new. Again, they do work nicely but some people considering them on black leather interiors may want to see them in person if they care about black seats looking more charcoal/silver.
Interesting. I have never had perforated black seats. Only lighter colors,,,
