Default Ventilated Seats - Water/Sweat Spots

I have the pebble gray ventilated seats and have noticeable water/sweat spots that show up as discoloration in the little holes.

It seems that some come and go depending on temperature.

How does everyone deal with these?

Same interior, and I haven’t seen any indication of what you are noticing. Can you post a pic?

Also.,,been known to sweat a little, lol.

Your post reminded me of something... I believe there was a service bulletin about discolorations in the ventilated seats that might occur. I had a '14 C4S with black leather ventilated seats and when you looked at the seat in different light, you would see what looked like spots of different shapes and sizes across the surface. No amount of cleaning would remove them. I'll have to see what was out there back then from the factory, but I swear there was a bulletin of other document from factory about something like this....

UPDATE: This is what I was thinking of.... "Eliminating symptoms in body interior: Reworking seat cover on "seat with active ventilation (I-no. 541)" (Spots on seat cover/SY0411)" Check that out. Maybe it will help.

Thanks for the info. I'll contact my insider at the dealership to see if he can locate the bulletin to see what it says.

I also found some good information on the 997 forum about using different leather treatments to remove or cover up the visible splotches.

My 991 TTS had what appeared to be water discoloration on the passenger seat that could only be seen with a strong led light that I used to find paint swirls. I had garnet red ventilated seats. I tried to remove them with a couple leather cleaning products but had no luck. Since it was not visible in normal light, it didn’t bother me much. But it could just have been what Plenum described.

Thanks for this info! So these would be the bulletins #s that are referenceable by P dealer: I-no. 541/SY0411? Going in for 20k service next so am going to have them look at this as well, my SA told me neither of these numbers match Porsche bulletins (granted, not sure he really thought about it, seemed distracted)? Please confirm, thank you! - Dom

Had these same spots on my previous 997. My theory is that something gets in the holes and darkens the edges of the leather. The only way to make it disappear is to darken all the holes. I washed my entire seat down with a leather conditioner using generous amounts making sure it got down in all the holes. Took time but once it was done, the spots were no longer noticeable.

Agree with the above post, it spots because the inside of the holes gets darker, the only way to remove them is to do the same to the entire seat area.
