leaking tire pressure valve
I had the changeover to new winter tires and wheels last week in my new 4s. I noticed today, cold day, that the pressures were a little low so went to fill air in my tires at a local gas station. One of these air pumps where you can set the tire pressure on the digitial display on the pump. In one of the front tires, as soon as I took the cap off, the air started leaking out of it quite fast. I managed to fill it and cap the valve. Seems to be holding pressure. Probably defective valve. I called roadside assistance and they will take my car to the dealer. Strange. Never had this happen to me before. Called a couple of local tire shops and they told me they won't work on a 911.
I bought the Porsche wheel and tire package from the local dealer. The manufacturing date on the Contis says 3715 so already 2 years old.

Tighten or replace the valve. We have the proper tool and extra value in our tire kit in the frunk.

Lol, “won’t work on Porsches,” that’s funny...
The valvestem valve can probably easily and quickly be replaced by just about any tire shop. I would be surprised if it’s anything but a standard part.

I paid 4k for the wheels and tires. Tightening the nut around the valve doesn't help with the leak. I will have the dealer replace the valve and check the others. New car, 3 months old. Porsche roadside will take it to the dealer.

You are missing our point. Watch the video here in post #19. You need to tighten the valve stem insert with the tool from your tire kit in the frunk:

If that doesn’t work pump the tire up and drive it to the dealer yourself. Why have someone tow your car and take chances when it can be driven.

There is a spare valve nipple in the trunk with the tire sealant and a plastic tool to loosen and tighten. Suggest using the tool to tighten existing valve or try replacing with the spare before calling roadside.

I try to keep a metal valve cap, the kind with a rubber gasket, in each car for just such an emergency. Not a long term fix, but perhaps enough to get to service.

Yes there is. Thank you. Good thing that there are some tools in the frunk. Never needed it in my Boxster in 4 yrs. so never looked. This car seems more needy already. Mostly stupid stuff.

That is a good idea. I have no idea why the valve started leaking about a week after the winter tires and wheels just as I discovered the pressure was low. In all my years of driving including 4 years before my 4s in my Boxster and my other sports cars, I never had an issue with leaky valves in my tires. Stupid stuff. Similarly, in my second drive in my 911 in August, I found a screw in one of the rear tires. Never before did I encounter this even in my Boxster with its 265 mm rear tires. Hopefully car is not jinxed. It is rattling already after 3 months and the electronics are not that reliable. The rear camera is not coming on as it should but my Boxster had no sensors or camera so I am fine I suppose.

Was it just a loose valve? I had new tires put on my sport bike once, and when I was riding home the front end felt really heavy. When I got home, I realized they didn't tighten the front valve and the front tire was down to around 12 lbs. Lucky it didn't peel off the rim on me. Tightened it up and it was good to go.
