O2 sensor change out ... ?
Can anyone give me the approximate time to change out 2 downstream O2 sensors on a 991.2 car?
Just wondering how involved it would be. Wouldn't think it would take long.
TIA

I did it on my 991.1 and it took under 3 hours. Here's a writeup I did: http://stealthboy.com/991_o2_sensors.pdf [PDF warning]

Why are you doing this? If it is a car problem, why not get the dealer to replace them under warranty?

I actually mistyped ... what I wanted to know was how long it would take to install O2 sensor SPACERS ... 2 of them in the down stream postition ... i.e. post cat ??
That's what I wanted to know. The rest of the story to follow install.

FWIW: I ended up having to replace one of my sensors as it was damaged during replacement of my cats. Instead of oem, I went with a DENSO replacement.
Denso 234-4475 OE Identical Oxygen Sensor
SKU: 234-4475
Additionally, I didn’t want to go through the trouble of removing the bumper plus air box just to get access. So I decided to just splice in the new sensor by cutting the existing wiring and crimping on the new o2 sensor. I retained the original heat shielding around the cable and transferred it over, then wrapped it all up with tape and tucked it way up out of the way.
Took 30 minutes start to finish. Then used a write-up on the emissions readiness process to get everything reset (basically idle for a couple minutes, 20-30 for 3 minutes, 40-60 for 15 minutes, and then idle for another few minutes with the car in gear). I can confirm that all my codes have cleared and the emissions is back in a ready state.
just thought I’d pass along as the o2 sensor was around $80 plus a $1 in connectors and tape.

I know this thread is super old, but just wanted to let people know you don't have to remove the entire rear bumper, you can remove the tail lights and if have little hands can reach in and swap the plug out.
For the turbo cars, you will need to remove the spoiler, and the piece below it (to remove the tailights).
cheers.
