The car appears priced accordingly. $52K is cheap for a 2013 with such low miles. That's what I am asking for my 2010 with 5K miles. I tend to agree that the dealer would disclose.

 

 

Carfax is worthless. About two years ago I was looking at a 2014 991TTS, listed with a local, non-Porsche dealer. The previous owner, a rennlist member, clearly stated the car was involved in a heavy rear ended accident. All was fixed by his insurance to perfect condition, however it never showed up on Carfax. Watched it for weeks, continually checking Carfax, tossing and turning; do I want the car. Finally told myself "NO"! I don't know if the dealer has a way to scrub Carfax, but I doubt the insurance company would fail to report the damage.

 

Wow, I can't believe it's listed for sale without report of the flood loss salvage. I actually e-mailed CARFAX but they said they don't take information from individuals....

hopefully prospective buyers will see this listing when they google the VIN

 

The other thing to note: I found pictures of the car when it was parked in a field of flooded cars. The windows were lowered down....so if there was no water in the cabin before, there certainly was now. It sat in that field for months.

I wonder what this dealer paid for it? USAA paid me out $69000. So at auction maybe it sold for half of the blue book value?

 

I am just wondering, if the car is in good running condition and the interior is also nice and does not smell like a flooded car, what is the long term issues of buying such a car beside resale value.

 

We had flooding in our condo building from Hurricane Matthew over 2 years ago and problems with electrical items are still popping up, which will happen over time in a car as well.

 

Depends on what electrical/electronic components got soaked, and how much corrosion started. I would not want to be the owner when strange gremlin events start happening.

 

Gotta remember the insurance company totaled this car and most insurance companies only do that as a last resort. How many would buy a car with "flood damaged" stamped across the title.

 

Dealers aren't always aware of the flood damage. I know of someone in Florida that his car had flood damage. He traded it to an unsuspecting dealer very quickly after he received a settlement before it hit the carfax.

 

 

For a while, I was looking at picking up a flooded Boxster and doing an LS swap (http://www.renegadehybrids.com/). I live in Connecticut about 30 minutes from this dealer. I have been to the shop on multiple occasions. I toured their maintenance bays and saw them repairing one. They have been fairly straight up with me about what they have and the history. Some are flood cars. Some are theft recoveries. I don't believe they do collision salvage. I agree this should be on the title. But all one has to do is google the vin and all the pictures/history come up. At least in Connecticut, in order to get the car re-titled, there have to be before/after pictures and invoices of what was replaced/repaired. I don't know if they have to give it to you, but i suspect you can get it from the state - if you asked for it.
