Crazy 3 Months (991.1 to 991.2 and back to 991.1)
#76
It seems that many people like NA. I inquired about trading my 911/50 for a GT3. Unfortunately, I was told no because there were already 250 on the wait list (I asked too late). My next text was a great offer on my car and that I could trade it on anything but a GT3. I told my SA no thanks and that I would consider trading my car for a new car without a turbo. That brought us back to the GT3 which was still a no go. So there you have it. Guess I’ll own my 911/50 with 8000 miles for a long time. Incidentally, my other 2 vehicles are turbos. No problems ,just not in my sports car.

Im not sure my mistake rises to this level but I guess James Packer and I are pretty much saying the same thing!
Thanks for all the friendly comments everyone. Its nice to have a support group for this 911 sickness that most of us share!

@OTM - great read, and what a harried few months you must have had, and by that I mean trying to keep your car clean. BB isnt a color, its a hobby.
I considered a .2 when looking for my 991 but found a superb, gently used .1 in Texas and havent looked back. I track it on Sunday and drive it to work on Monday. One lesser consideration in the .1 vs .2 for those contemplating between the two is having an opportunity to own the last of the NA 911s (other than limited production variants). Since acquiring mine, Ive seen prices hold steady (and actually rise, at least on asking price), and while I know the use and miles I put on mine wont make it special in the upcoming years, others who opt for the NA versions may realize a pleasant surprise down the road.

Awsesome comparison test from R&T between the AMG GTC and 911 GTS (both cabs). The .2 GTS cab was unbelievably quick. They did mention that the .1 GTS was brilliant and the "closest thing to an old-school rubber bumper 911S that Porsche was willing to sell." Regarding the .2 GTS they noted that the sense of illicit exhilaration has been carefully engineered away.
The conclusion I take away is that there is a fundamental difference in the character of both cars (.1 vs .2)...but they are both fantastic cars. One has to drive (and in some cases own) both to know what they're after.
Cheers,
NF

Still appreciating the 991.1?
Old thread bump, OTM - are you still enjoying the 991.1S, color and all? I came across this thread while doing some research prepurchase. Your 991.1S is extremely similar to one I'm looking at.

From the looks of your location, you are likely looking at my car! Just traded it for a 2019 T to the best dealership I’ve ever used! John Wright and Porsche North Houston are simply amazing! I was going to start a thread as soon as I took some pictures of the new one.
That 2016 is beautiful and 100% trouble free. I was thinking that I wanted to find a long term keeper GT3 so I figured I’d try something new for short time since I knew the 2016 C2S would not be a long term keeper and still had some nice value. I thought a T with buckets would be a fun change of pace. The T is fun but the sound and feel of that NA engine is already missed. Obviously don’t trust anything I say because I clearly have a car problem. I recently drove a GT3 at Porsche Experience Center Atlanta and I knew that would be a perfect long term keeper so the switch back to the tt engine for a short stint seemed like a good idea until the 2018 GT3s take a bit of depreciation. And yes, I have the best wife ever who puts up with all of this nonsense.
Good luck!
