Terrific car. I went from a 16 4s to an 18 GTS and had some of the same feelings on the sound but rectified it to my satisfaction with Soul Cats and had the power steering plus disabled. Sound corrected I'm feeling more settled and the more I drive the .2 GTS the more it reveals what it is capable of and appreciate its sound - its truly an incredible machine. So its a relationship that is getting better with time - which is great - and my wandering eye is getting bored with the options although I won't forget that time spent with the .1 4S. But - I get it for sure - .2 is a new and different machine and not necessarily better for everyone. Congrats on your .1 - seriously gorgeous car.

Love this. Great story and the 991.1 is truly special, which you are a further testament to.
I also have a Base 3.4 (with Sharkwerks X Pipe) which like you said, sounds absolutely perfect to me. The sound may be my favorite part of the entire car, likely without question. There truly is no substitute for an N/A Flat 6 sound, and imo you'll enjoy your decision every time you start and give it gas. And now you have a great story to tell, as well walked the walk.
Congrats.

This is a perfect example of how much sound relates to the "feel" of the car and driving experience. Feel is the most subjective aspect of driving. It's is a combination of the sound a car makes when pushed, as well as the vibration and pressures we feel through the steering wheel, seats and gas pedal when accelerating, turning, braking.
Change one of those variables and feel will change. Auditory and haptic feedback is very different here when comparing the .1 to the .2. And the .1 wins every time in the sound category. Don't underestimate how much sound plays a role in the overall experience.

My Cayman was a 2.7 L, and it sounded incredible when winding it up. Honestly, I do wish my 911 had that same note and totally understand why you did it. Congrats on finding the car that satisfies your senses.

Congratulations. At least you did not trade your wife in for a newer model and then realize you liked the previous version better. LOL

OTM - you are a certified nut job. For whom I have a lot of respect! Sounds like a slightly painful, twisty turny journey. But I'm glad you did all of it before coming back and asking for feedback here along the way. The Rennlist crew can really scramble and mess with your head with all the different strong personalities... You were on a mission and sounds like mission accomplished.

OTM - Man I can relate to the process of self convincing you articulated so well! Such a slippery slope and so hard to pull out of! I also totally love that you are where you are with your current vehicle, because I know you are happy after having been to the .2 drive. You really have been there done that and got the T-shirt (see dealer for your T-shirt!)
