I keep mine up all weekend when i track the car so that it avoids going up and down all weekend. Other than that (and for cleaning) I don’t touch the button. That said, I like the look with the spoiler up. It’s a personal preference. I don’t put it up just not to bother with it, but i’ve seen some 991s with spoilers up when they shouldn’t have been and don’t think it looks bad at all.

I read somewhere that the hydraulics were not designed to have the pressure on the systems all the time (up). Personally, I don't get what all the fuss is about. If you spend 100k+ for a car, you should be able to keep the spoiler any damn place want to.

Paid a tidy sum for all that engineering, my input is not required for that function.

Does it stay up after turning off the car? Mine stays up while parked, but once I turn the car back on, it lowers itself.

Also, is there truth to the engine getting cooled extra while the spoiler is up?

On the 991.2 cars, yes that's true.

The car will take care of that itself without driver input. I think they look silly up (when parked)but really couldnt care any less.

I always leave my spoiler in normal position but after some spirited driving on a very hot day, it stayed up after being parked. It's a 991.2. I wonder if this was because the engine was too hot?

I drive by Porsche of San Diego on my way to work every day, and this morning I noticed they have the spoilers up on 9 out of 10 Panameras haha

Just FYI: The Model X spoiler is not designed to keep the vehicle's tail planted at speed like ours, it is made to disrupt the airflow over the back of the vehicle and reduce drag. Tesla claims it increases highway range by an average of 1.6%. They also claim that the coefficient of drag on the Model X is 20% lower than any other SUV at 0.24 (!)... somewhat due to this as well as other aerodynamic tricks.

It is programmed to begin deploying at 10 mph, hits a max deployment at 45mph, and then reduces its height at higher speeds. So pretty much you will see it deployed all of the time on the road. It is only found on the top-of-the-line model I think.

Default Spoiler Hydraullics

Interesting the spoiler has Hydraulics, on the 964 it was just a motor and some gears this must be new.
