Spoke to the wife this morning. As expected she said "go for it". Smartest decision I ever made was choosing her as a partner.
Just have to see if the numbers work now.

Actually I don’t like the new turbo body. The shoulder line is so wide that it’s no longer curved, it’s flat on top. Just doesn’t look right to me.

Well, up for sale it goes then.

Isn't it great then that Porsche makes many models so we all can be happy. The look of the Turbo S from the rear is breathtaking, TO ME. Nothing I don't like about the looks. But thanks for the feedback.

That's risky. Much safer to just get another Guards Red 911 and say nothing.

Interesting thread as I've been considering the same. The concerns I have with the Turbo S are the PCCBs (I take my road car on track from time to time to instruct) and the CL wheels which most of the Turbo S have from what I can tell. There are also a few options on the Turbo S that I don't necessarily care about and therefore aren't worth extra money to me.

It appears a Turbo (non-S) saves about $20K on the used market and saves me having to deal with CL, PCCB, etc., and apparently on the 991.1 generation, the power difference is simply software (not true on the 991.2 gen) which you could add in with aftermarket software (although I doubt the difference is significant in real world driving).

Wondering you thought along the same lines here and, if so, what led you to your ultimate decision (which I'm very jealous of, by the way!) Good luck on the sale and purchase.

Cheers,

FWIW, I gave up on PDK after my last 991 GT3. Now I have a MT 991.2 GTS. I was also skeptical of the new turbo engine, but decided that was the highest evolution of a new 911 MT cabriolet money can buy, so I ordered and took delivery a few weeks ago. To my pleasant surprise, it does not sound or feel like any turbo engine I have driven. It feels very linear and naturally aspirated. I urge you to test drive one, especially a manual one and judge for yourself.

i too would also go with a 991.1 GTS MT if I can find one that is perfect. If I'm going to go turbo I'm going all the way.

I will most likely be selling the Kline. I'll let you know I'm not at the alter yet.

Now that's funny and sometimes very true. She was a trooper and was nothing but happy about it.

As far as the car and the driving and whether I should go GTS or new 4S. For me this is a car I have always wanted since owning and selling my previous TT's.

Yes its PDK, and I have been driving MT's forever but after driving this car I can't imagine it with a typical MT trans. It wasn't just the overwhelming speed but it felt so planted and confident to drive. It is wide, wider than my 4S which I had not anticipated

The beauty about cars like wives is if it doesn't work out you can change but cars are a LOT less expansive and painful to trade in.

If I'm happy I'll let you know, if I'm not I will too. Never been one to 2nd guess myself so I'm not starting now. This feels right. Also this car is speced with 5 lug not CL which was a big deal for me as I like change. Does have PCCb but I won't be tracking so they should be fine for a long time.

As I have boringly reiterated on this site, I only buy new Porsches but first call the woman I love when I find "the one". She has been with me in another city when I had a two-year-old Porsche and generated an amazing trade for a new Targa. She trusts my judgment of only paying cash. If I cannot afford it, I will not buy it. That is our mantra. I have owned six Porsches, each purchased new; most with cash. All turned out well. I have promised that my current 991 GTS will be my last as I am 73. My wife claims she does not believe me. SHE ALWAYS USES THE RESPONSE, "GO FOR IT". My friends call her a "keeper".

I have a friend whose 96 year old father owns many new Ferraries that he drives daily. I want to be in his group.

+1. I hear you. I'm not that far behind you.
This will be Porsche number 13 for me. I may have a serious obsession.
