Here's a pretty fast manual turbo... I bet it's plenty exciting.

Not interested in someone else's lab experiment.
Big item for me since I'm used to the TT cars is the PDK. Don't want to start a debate but I do agree that as far as quickness it is key. Just want to make sure I don't fall asleep driving it.

I think your concerns are legitimate regarding PDK. It's an outstanding gearbox, but it's not for everybody. My biggest concern when I bought my 2014 TTS was the move to PDK from my 2008 TT with a manual transmission. For me personally, the PDK transmission is fantastic. I like it much more than I thought I would. I drive the car in sport mode most of the time, and I frequently use the paddles on the steering wheel to change gears. It's not boring at all. Obviously this is subjective - you should drive one.
I hear lots of comments about the TTS being overkill, and how you can never use all that power on the street. This may be true, but I would argue that it's true for all 991 cars. I didn't buy my 991 TTS or any of my previous Porsches to drive them at 10/10 on the street. I still find plenty of opportunities to enjoy a big rush of boost and acceleration without doing anything crazy.
There's no rational reason to buy a TTS. You either want one, or you don't. You either get it, or you don't. There's nothing wrong with wanting one, and there's nothing wrong with wanting something else. Now that I've owned and driven a TTS on a regular basis, I would find it hard to own any other 911.

Why would anyone need a car that goes 0-60 in under 3s? I love the turbo don’t get me wrong, but our cars are ridiculously fast as is. I’m only 500 miles into my 18 991.2 C2S wondering if I should have gotten a GTS or something faster. Without even unleashing the car, since still in the break in period, it’s so easy to get yourself in trouble. Nick Murray and others have said that the base and S models are the best because it allowed the average owner to push it while it’s difficult to see the full potential of the higher end models. I guess it’s good to know that your car can potentially be bad *** in the right hands...

You're right, nobody needs that. But nobody needs a car that goes 0-60 in under 4s like your new C2S. Either choice is ridiculously fast.
For me, it was about much more than the acceleration figures. I like the whole package of upgrades. The TTS comes standard with many of the features that are optional on the other models, and they are mostly features that I want.
It's quite nice that Porsche offers so many variants of the 911. There's one for every taste!

Lexvan is a wise prophet. GT3 would mean basically my wife would never join me for a real ride. She indulges all of my crazy Porsche desires without ever complaining and is on her 3rd Pcar, a Sapphire Blue Macan. I also really like her more than most people.
I also don't track anymore so it would be a waste on me.
As far as "Why does anyone need all that power" I agree with Dennis C. It's more than just the power, it's all the other stuff that comes with a Turbo S. After driving TT's before I have to say I do miss that level of Porsche and I love my 4S. Sometimes it's not about using the power but knowing it's there. And there many times that just experiencing that rush for short periods of time is mind altering.

I'd miss the MT. I haven't had a MT car since I had a 2006 BMW Z4 M Coupe and I forgot how much I miss it.
I think it's also easy to get caught up in the latest and greatest. Realistically the average person has no idea how new/old most 911's are, so I think all that matters is if you still truly enjoy driving the car.
Hell, I had someone the other day think it was a Hyundai Genesis

Not a knock on your current car, but I think of the 991TT as a 4S with more power. You have to ask yourself if the power is worth giving up the manual transmission fun factor.

I agree. I will drive it and see if the MT loss matters more than the positives.
Once I got into these cars I never really left. They have been great cars to own and drive in all of the iterations. Most of my close friends don't really get the connection/addiction that comes from owning them.

I sold my TTS....after all the years of wanting one...it just wasn't visceral enough. I bought a 993tt and a Targa 4S thinking I had the best of both worlds....then the GT3 Touring came out and well....I am hoping it does it all for me. In driving the Targa, I marvel at how balanced and sensible the 991s and 4s is as a daily...and with your mods and a stick, you might find what you have is what you want. I will buy another TTS as they are magnificent BUT only if I have something sort of loud with a stick to enjoy in the garage when I need the experience you seem to enjoy with what you have. Creature comforts and straight line launch...that's for another thread

That thing hurts my eyes. Wouldn't be caught dead in that horrific thing. Can't even call it a 911.
