The 1 thing I am not 100% crazy about on my 2017 C4S is the rims. The car has the standard Carrera S Wheels in silver.
With my car car being white with black Exhaust tips, black leds, tint, and black glass roof I wanted black wheels.
Originally the the dealer was willing to swap spiders on my car but I didn’t like them on a white car. My preference is for the Carrera S Wheels painted black or the Carrera Sport Wheels in black.
My question is is should I just have my current wheels powder coated black or should I look for a nice HRE wheel instead?

I'd but a second set if the powder coat is a permanent change. You can always sell the original set when you are happy with your new choice.
IMO, while it works on some cars, the black wheel use is a bit overdone. I've got the platinum satin painted S wheels. I like them but don't love them. I know some day I want to go to a brighter wheel. In the mean time, they are great at hiding brake dust.

Exactly what Jurrian mentioned.
Then advantage of powdercoating your current wheels is the cost savings. The advantages of purchasing HRE wheels is that you get the style you want in the finish you want while having a more durable and more lightweight wheel.

Did you see the word I used......."ABOUT"?
Since both you, and Jaws don't list your location in your avatar, it's very hard to give more accurate pricing information, because like many things; location, location, location is very important.
In 2011, I had a set of 996 Turbo hollow spoke turbo twist wheels powder coated for $125/wheel. I do not suspect pricing has gone down in the last 6 years. That's why I said "about $150/wheel" now here in 2017.

fair enough. I'm in Atlanta. I just recently closed my custom powdercoating business. being in powdercoating for the last 15 years and active in online powdercoating forums, I found that at 100 I was overpriced compared to most. But, my quality is impeccable, so my customers didn't mind.

But shipping is soooooo expensive, you really need the local business to support your value and pricing.

I specialized in brake calipers and 95% of my business was mail order. Used to ship over 12k per year UPS. Not bad for a one man operation that started from a hobby and was only supposed to supplement my income a little bit after my airline declared bankrupcy and cut my pay in half. We regained most of the cuts and I upgraded to Captain when I turned 50 2 years ago, and I decided I shouldn't be working 28-30 days per month, so I started winding it down, and am now pretty much fully out, aside from 2 shops that I do work for.
Work like this was my bread and butter though
