I debated this decision for a long time while configuring my car. I'm all for technology and came from an F10 M5 equipped with LED and was my first experience with them. I love the natural white of the LED's and its brightness, but I too feel that the drop off is a lot shorter. I had to use the automatic high beams more often where on HID's I would use it when only pitch dark. When configuring my 991.2 I chose to stick with HIDs and happy with the choice. I also prefer the single "eye" look along with the distinct LED DRL points. The LED light ring is not as defined and hard to see the 4 points.

I think Porsche is trying to highlight the four points as opposed to the ring. The 991.2 tail lights also feature four LED points.
