Default First Porsche, First New Post, First Mods

I wanted to have a 911 before I got "old", and for me, that meant securing one in my mid-30s, since I've been considering what sports cars to have in my life since I was about 5. From that age, 35 is very, very far away!

Well, I'm happy to say that two weeks prior to my 36th birthday, I had this immaculate 2013 911 Carrera Coupe with just shy of 1,800 miles and 7-Speed Manual Transmission shipped up to Wake Forest, NC from Braman in West Palm Beach.

I've owned 22-23 vehicles or so thus far, and have bought many of them sight-unseen so was no stranger to it--but this was for sure the highest caliber vehicle I've purchased in that way. Having an extraordinary amount of pictures of the car, ultra-low mileage, and Certified Pre-Owned status definitely helped justify that against taking a bunch of time out of my schedule to go down there to look at the car first, then drive it home through summer Florida bugs.

Here it is, upon delivery:

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, Delivery

But of course, I couldn't just be happy with it in stock form.

So, after about 700 lovely miles, I took it apart:

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, Front Disassembled

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, Rear Disassembled

Then I proceeded with modding, adding the following over a three-week duration as time allowed:
  • Avery Dennison Satin White Pearl Full-Body Wrap
  • LLumar CTX40 Window Film on Side and Rear Windows
  • LLumar AIR80 Window Film on Front Windshield
  • Escort MAX Ci 360 Built-In Radar / Laser Detection System (with Rear Shifters omitted for aesthetics, and since Laser isn't widely used from behind in North Carolina)
  • NAV-TV Front / Rear Camera Interface for Factory Navigation System
  • Audiovox Front-View Camera
  • Audiovox Rear-View Camera
  • Clear Corner Lenses
  • Rear Window Wiper Delete
  • H&R 1.2" Lowering Springs
  • Then to Porsche for a 4-Wheel Alignment and immediately after, a 1,700 mile trip through the Moonshiner, Tail of the Dragon, and far into Tennessee and back to put some miles on!

Finished Results:

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, Avery Dennison Satin White Pearl

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, Avery Dennison Satin White Pearl, LLumar CTX40, and LLumar AIR80

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, Escort MAX Ci 360

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and Weinermobile

Maybe one day soon, before I actually do get old, I will have time to attend a Cars & Coffee or other event like so many of you seem to do!

Very nice. Probably got that car out of Florida just in time, before Irma.

Did you do any paint correction before the satin wrap? Any coating on top of the wrap?

Thanks! I didn't have any paint correction, just had it washed with a car wash that strips wax off, then prepped the body surfaces with purpose-made cleaners and alcohol, etc. There is no coating on top of the wrap, as I will likely redo every 1.5-2 years I own it, or when I feel like a change.

Can you post a better picture of the Weinermobile? I'd like to see the ride height.

Ha, that's all I got while it was parked at a hotel we stayed at in Tennessee, but I believe that this particular Weinermobile is a 1995 model made by Harry Bentley Bradley for Carlin Manufacturing in Fresno, California. That could be wrong since these never made my list of vehicles to own...well at least yet. After doing some research on them, I'm not so sure I can rule a Weinermobile out of my dream fleet completely. Probably great for road trips!

Beautiful car. The wrap gives it a sort of 911 50th anniversary look.

Any other plans?

Congratulations on the new ride! I take it the Weiner did not challenge you to a race?

I really like the Satin White Pearl, as opposed to the "fleet vehicle-esque" factory Stunning White paint. It's a very, very plain color in my opinion, and far too plain to be on a Porsche.

What I've done just about covers it for my plans aside from maybe changing the color again at some point in the future if/when I want something more vibrant like red or blue.

That, and actually drive the car every chance I get, so it doesn't get bored as it surely was in the care of the previous owners (who presumably took about three years to put on 1,700 or so miles).

Thanks! I couldn't find the Weinermobile driver in the hotel we were at. I assume they should have been wearing some kind of Oscar Meyer-themed costume? Maybe next time!

Congratulations! Have you considered plasti-dipping your rims a darker colour? I think it would go well with your new satin wrap.
