997.2 C2S Coupe to 991 C2S Cab: anyone made the jump?
Hello all,
I have a bit of a dilemma. We currently own a 997.2 Manual C2S coupe with low miles, and love the car. With that said, my wife is thinking perhaps it's time to sell her BMW and upgrade to a 991, perhaps a Cab. We can't swing the 991 and the 997, so it's one or the other. I am trying to find someone who has at least driven both, or better yet, owned/owns both, and their experiences. I am primarily looking at a 991 Cab as there is a great deal on one 6 hours away with every performance option I would spec: 7MT, PDCC, Adaptive Sport Seats, PSE, SC. Driving wise, I don't think there is going to be a huge difference between the 991 Cab and Coupe, but I haven't had enough recent seat time in the 991 to know if I will enjoy it more, less, or the same.
Forgetting price and rarity for a moment: does the 991 feel as "special" as the 997? I had a lot of seat time a few years back in a 991 and love it, but the 997 is all I have known recently.
Now, with price back in the equation: the 997 is worth almost as much as the 991's asking price.....
The other concern: we have 2 small kids that fit really well in the 997 and love the car. I am a bit worried about how upright the 991's rear seats are. Thoughts on that?

I have a 997 and 991, however, not exactly the same as yours and what you're proposing. The 997 is a turbo cab and the 991 is a .2 and a coupe. There are big differences between the 2 cars--the 997 is raw and not quite as smooth as the 991.2; 997 is a manual and 991.2 is pdk, the latter of which is more enjoyable as a daily driver; technology in the 991.2 obviously years ahead of the 997. If the 997 wasn't a turbo with the mezger engine, I would probably consider selling it and buying a 993. The 991.2 is a gts with fewer horsepower than the 997, but it's quicker, handles better, drives easier. If I only could have one, it would be the 991.2. Hope this helps.
