Default 991 up on jack stands

With Hurricane Irma on the way, I'm trying to figure out if I can put my car up on jack stands. I know where the 4 lifting points are, but I don't see a good place to put the stands once the car is in the air. I suppose the suspension is the best place. If I can get the car up on stands, it would buy me an extra 8 - 12".

Does anyone have experience with this?

Use blocks of wood under the wheels rather than jack stands.

Yikes - scary to think about your situation. I guess there's no way to take the 911 with you when you evacuate? Can you find a multi-story parking garage and leave it somewhere?

Don't have an answer to your question but look good. I wish you luck. Here's a video of a guy saving his m3 for Harvey.

Oh man! This just hurts my soul. If you watch the whole video and observe his house etc,....this guy is a total car nut. I feel for him. Good for him for saving the M3.

As someone who just went through Harvey, good luck.

I also recommend finding the multi-story car park and leaving the car. Based on what we just got whalloped with, an extra few inches may not do much.

Thinking of you guys. Hang in there.

Not sure if you have time to grab these, but these will give you an extra foot of clearance and no worry about figuring out how to get them in.

I watched the whole thing as well. The guy definitely loves his cars. Did everything he could to save his cars...I applaud his dedication.

As someone who just went through this in Houston - if you have a spare set of wheels/tires in the garage (like I did) - jack the damn thing up and put the wheels on the spare set. That buys you at least 8"..... I could have saved mine, a 2013 C2S that was 4.5 months old with me.

The waterline would suggest I had 1.5-2 inches in my passenger compartment, and it fried the electronics to the point that I cannot lock/unlock the car, open the frunk to disconnect battery cable, or release the e-brake. Even when getting 12v to the fuse panel via that pop-out terminal I get nothing....I apparently does not take much water to kill these guys.

The quickest and safest way is to use wood under the wheels. If you can, purchase a couple of 12' 2x12's at home depot and have them cut them into 12 -1' sections. This should leave you with 24 pieces to place 6 under each wheel. That should get you up 9" higher. Start by jacking from the rear support and the front wheels will elevate as well as the rear. You can place 3 or 4 to this side. Then move to the other side and do the same thing. Then move back to the first side and jack up again and place the remaining boards. Move to the remaining side and complete. This should do it. Suggestions, don't lock your car and leave the trunk cracked. If you have a manual then set the brake, if you have a PDK, do not.
Good luck and stay safe.

Thanks for the ideas. I found some concrete blocks at Lowes. No wood left on the shelves. It should do the trick.

I've been through this before. Here are some pics of my car in 2005 after Hurricane Wilma swept through Miami. Not a 911. But my first brand new car. Insurance paid out 11k. It cost over 30k 4 years earlier.

I took mine to the airport parking garage yesterday when it looked like we could still get a direct hit. I was amazed at the number of 911s there in such a small garage. Probably at least 2 dozen. Rare to see that many in one location around here. Also several cayman/boxsters and a 356.
