Default Fluid loss radiator

So I used to check my radiator after the first year of driving the car. I hate to admit it but I probably haven't checked it in over a year, yeah bad me. I had to add 2 pints. Yeah I went o the dealer and got ripped off by $65 for Porsche antifreeze. So I went for a long ride and the level did not go down. If I had a leak it would be hard to find i think. Is this normal? I drive the car a MY15 TTS pretty easy. Thoughts?

I'm thinking pretty normal,.....for some reason a little bit of coolant seems to disappear on just about any "newer" Porsche I have ever owned. I've always done the usual looking around and can never find a thing. It's always a mystery, but never had anything bad become of it.

Probably nothing to worry about, especially if you have done lots of trips (heating-cooling cycles) and/or been out in hot weather. Just check more often!

The Porsche coolant will be concentrated; you need to dilute it 50/50 with distilled water.

Given the coolant temps modern Porsches (all newer cars really) run (200-230F) when in non-Sport mode I could imagine minor failures that would result in slight loss of coolant over time. But, I'm not sure I would consider them normal. They might be really hard to find too.

If the coolant loss only (or mostly) occurs during engine use, then a small leak won't leave liquid evidence; The coolant will vaporize due to proximity to hot engine bits. It might though, over time, leave dry stains as evidence.

Normal. You should have just added distilled water. Your cooling system holds over 800 ounces. 32 ounces ain't going to make a difference on the ratio.

Depends on what he bought. Porsche also sells the premixed stuff.

Interesting. Didn't find that with a quick search. Insanity to pay the Porsche tax on H20 though.

In any case then, the main point for the OP is: read the label so that you know what you're putting in the cooling system.

Yes I added the Porsche stuff 50/50 with distilled water. Was at first going to add just distilled water, I just couldn't figure out how much it needed so I went with the 50/50 mix.

I just can't believe I overlooked checking this.

So you added 32 ounces to bring the bobber into the middle position, right? I bet if you check it again after a drive, the bobber will be back at the "min" reading. These engines just spit out the excess.

Seems my bobber is always at min level, no matter how much antifreeze mix I put in. Had dealer pressure check my system and they said everything checked out fine. My SA said don't bother checking bobber and don't worry unless you get a MFD message. Mmmmmm.

O'reilly Auto Parts sells the correct fluid if you don't just want to add distilled water.

No, i went to the max drove it for an hour and the bobber was still at the max.
I measured the depth from the top of the filler cap it was 3 3/4 inches before hitting fluid. I'll use that measurement it instead of the bobber from now on. When I first bought the car little over 2 years ago, I added Water Wetter.

I got no warning or anything from the car.

Why? Water Wetter is for track/race cars that run straight (distilled) water.
