991.2 GTS Winter Tires...
#107
Just put on Michelin Alpin pa4 onto champion 20” wheels and really like them so far. Nice and quiet and grippy enough around corners. So much better than my 993 on blizzaks. Can’t wait to try them once it gets below freezing.

Just installed Michelins on 2018 Turbo S wheels. Undecided if I like the silver look on a GTS...

I sold my winters and OZ wheels to another member and plan to run the Bridgestone RE980AS year round.

Tire Rack is a great source, but they only quote on things they sell. The Hakka 8 is available in 911 sizes. While not a N0 or N1 tire, it is the tire that Porsche uses on all their sports and SUV cars at their winter driving schools. So take that as you may.
I bought my rims and tpms sensors at Tire Rack and my tires at Kal Tire. The rims I bought have the right offset that even a 285 tire fits nicely in the rear wheel well.

This thread was very helpful to me.......
Consequently, I went with Porsche Winter wheels but with Bridgestone all seasons instead of snow tires.

Does anyone know if you can buy a 19" CL for winter? My local dealer says they will fit just fine but I can't seem to find anyone that sells them. I believe OZ makes them, however. Would be nice to have the smaller rim, larger tire for winter setup.

Contact on of the wheel sellers that advertise regularly on this forum. They have access to numerous brands of wheels and could offer you options. I don’t believe Porsche makes 19” wheels as an option.

Winter tires/wheels
I went with the 295s on 11inch wheels. Decent amount of Tire pushing past the wheel edge (lip) which is nice in the winters when the roads are not at their best (since my primary concern with the 295’s on 12 inch wheels is wheel lip damage). My dealer was also not supportive of putting the 295’s on the 12 inch wheels. I think if I was a lease customer with wheel and tire coverage I may have rolled the dice a little more.
And thanks!
And thanks!
Ok, my head is officially spinning!
I have a few questions for the group
I have a targa 4GTS with centerlocks and PCCBs
Looking for a winter set so I can drive in cold temps (I live in Chicago)
The dealer recommends a $8000 setup but it appears that tirerack has a similar set up for around $5000.
there are only 2 options for tires: pirelli sottozeros vs alpine. One in N0 the other N1 - any differences?
however there are too many options for the wheels!
The most cost effective is the oz ultraleggera. The fronts are all 20×9 but the rears vary: 20x11, 20x11.5 , 20x12 etc. what is better? Will the above tires fit on all these wheel options (11, 11.5, or 12)
Also the offsets are all different. What should I be looking for?
I currently have a white car with black center lock wheels. There are various color options. Black, white silver gold orange etc. Is there a simulator where I can see how it would look on a white car?
Also torerack doesnt sell the sensors. I am assuming the dealer can supply these?
Sorry for the noon questions. Thanks for the advice in advance.

Tirerack does sell sensors, bought them earlier this year, much cheaper then the stealership.

20x11 if you want to use a 295 rear snow tire
20x11.5 or 12 you will need to use a 305 section rear snow tire. Some have gotten away on the 11.5 with the 295 but tire rack and most tire shops will not recommend this, and Michelin does not either. Michelin has started making a 305 snow tire that would work, but it does not have a N1 or N0 stamp on it. If you care about that sort of thing then your best bet is 20x11.
Also make sure who ever does your wheel change over knows what the heck they are doing with center locks. Screw this up and its going to be a very expensive fix.

I'll look into the sensor. Just that tire rack had me click a waiver when trying to add to cart that sensors were not included etc)
I will call tire rack also
